  1. Could not agree more. Here is a dream reissue - Acoustic Sounds releases the Complete Africa/Brass in the Acoustic Sounds Series. Way too radical for that series, unfortunately.
  2. Yes, freely admitting my previous impatience and look forward to digging into these as well.
  3. So I have owned both of these forever, but never given either much of a chance. Perhaps I have never warmed fully to the long-ish opening tracks of each. But for whatever reason, I listened to both other the weekend, focusing on the other tracks, including the unissued stuff from both. Wow - what a discovery for me. Lots and lots of great music and playing, by basically the same group. Looking at Coltrane's discography, I discovered the two records were both made in May 1961, more/less contemporaneously. I am just on cloud nine, even made a playlist that begins with some of the unreleased songs, To Her Ladyship, Song of the Underground Railroad and The Damned Don't Cry. So curious what others think!
  4. In for Cannonball as well. I will probably go for the McDuff, esp if there are sound samples on Bandcamp. I love the artwork on the cover. Yeah I am a sucker for that stuff 😂
  5. Ugh, no interest whatsoever.
  6. Which streaming service?
  7. Maybe a mid-year appeal or a supplemental annual drive. Some folks might give twice, especially if Jim informed us of the shortfall. Just don't want him to have to fundraise each month.
  8. Just spitballing, but maybe an annual campaign, raise the full amount of funding for the upcoming year? I would be happy to pay my fair share that way.
  9. Just sent some dough. Thanks Jim!
  10. This became a recent obsession, but sold out! https://www.soufflecontinurecords.com/product/baikida-e-j-carroll-orange-fish-tears-art-edition-fflart088
  11. Yes, glad they are doing on CD. The vinyl appeal for me is as much the full-size booklet that comes with it. I can no longer read the microscopic print in the CD booklets. Sh*t, I just became old!
  12. Nice, this is way more interesting than the ump-teenth re-issue of Blue Train. Thank-you for pushing this Mark! Wow - for ideas, how about the Kenny Burrell "Blue Lights" sessions? I know they are jam sessions, but have really grown on me over the years. OTOH, there was a Classic Records issue some time ago. Kenny Dorham - the Round About Midnight live sessions. From left field - the two Booker Ervin sessions on Pacific Jazz (Booker 'n' Brass & Structurally Sound). Or the two Teddy Edwards side on Pacific Jazz (It's About Time & Sunset Eyes). Maybe the complete Three Blind Mice live sessions with Art Blakey. There is a boatload of Cannonball Adderley on Capitol - do they have access to that? Something interesting could surely be compiled. None of this comes anywhere close to approaching the stature of the Rollins of course. What a win!
  13. On the Muse trail ... how about the complete Bill Hardman, Mickey Tucker and Junior Cook sessions. Lots of cross-pollination there. With the exception of the Cook on 32 Jazz., none of this has been digitized. Delightful stuff.
  14. Nice - which Bud Powell if I may ask?
  15. Yessir, that is a good one!! Have it on right now.
  16. Neither of those guys, especially get the Dolphy guess though. Thanks for your comments. Yes, owned this myself for some time, maybe 20 years and always found it earnest and delightful! Glad I found a home for it in this BFT! Analysis makes sense. One clue - classic case of the local guy who never left home, same for his sidemen. No recollection of how I discovered this, maybe a review or from a board member, albeit some time ago if so! 😁
  17. @sidewinder - good guess, but it is not
  18. I did not. Forgot about it and never followed up. That is an issue with Bandcamp - shipment of physical product is iffy.
  19. Their Bandcamp site has the aura of legitimacy, quite a selection. And they once had a tote and t-shirt (both sold out) 😄 The Jazz Messengers site has a photo with a hype sticker, which says remastered from the original tapes, includes photos from the date, etc. Still doesn't prove it is completely on the up and up.
  20. Thanks - have both the physical incarnations in the house! Bought that Alternative LP many, many years ago in college. Always enjoyed it.
