    Carmell Jones

He is listed on Discogs as one of the founders of Revelation, who issued Carmel Jones Returns above.

Once you could find this everywhere in KC .. glad I picked up a copy. Wow - that is quite the specialty label - a bunch of releases over the past few years but only on reel to reel. I know the producer’s name from somewhere.
  4. Some pretty gutsy titles in hindsight. I bought each of them and was particularly delighted by both the Young and Hutcherson.
  5. Just saw that thing at Dusty Groove: https://www.dustygroove.com/item/13236/Waters:Waters-Blue-Note?filterfield=veryrecent&sort_order=date_added&format=vinyl&new_status=used
  6. Have not thought about that one in a while!
  7. Got it, heard it, agree - it’s a keeper!
  8. Big CTI fan. No it's not Blue Note/Riverside/Prestige, but a 70s update to all those. Some great artists. as mentioned above, with multiple solid albums, many of them fantastic - Freddie Hubbard, Stanley Turrentine, Joe Farrell, George Benson and Milt Jackson. Jim Hall, Paul Demond, Kenny Burrell and Randy Weston all have one-offs. Hubert Laws and Ron Carter also have a bunch of albums, mostly straight ahead jazz (with a 70s vibe) but I am not as much a fan of these, YMMV.
  9. I have always liked that Jump Street album cover.
  10. In/happy to subscribe
  11. Plus Gerald Clayton - me too!
  12. Boy, that letter from his daughter is a gut-punch. So sad.
  13. FYI he has a cool live track that is new to Spotify. Not sure if is unreleased or whether an album is forthcoming.
  14. So so so good!! One of my high school soundtracks!
  15. This coming out on October 4th. Available for pre-order on the Blue Note site, although not sure why you would. I also enjoy this one very much. They have changed their cover photo ever so much, between a shot of Byrd playing versus looking out. I prefer this one. This will be one of my few Tone Poet buys this year. https://store.bluenote.com/collections/tone-poet-series/products/donald-byrd-kofi-lp-tone-poet-vinyl-series
  16. Hey Chuck - very cool. Do you have Nessa shirts available for sale?
  17. I have a couple cheap-o CD/DVD players in areas like the basement of garage. One in a blue moon I will play a CD there and inevitably leave the CD in the drawer. I will typically find it, but only subsequent to buying a replacement on Discogs or Dusty Groove 😀
  18. At some point in retirement (< 5 years away), I will probably try the Discogs route. Most of my stuff is in excellent condition, but I will probably never use the NM grade to avoid the problems you describe. I may give up a few dollars but avoid hassles. I also think providing a narrative description helps. The other option would be to sell here. Fewer buyers of course, but at least we have the right target audience.
