Well, she's not dead yet. While there's life there's keeping on keeping on.

She's only a year older than me. Plenty of possibilities, and I hope she recovers.

The wording of that talkative piece of sh*t that pretends to be a news bit suggests she's dying though ... (final public performance was ... she will be so missed as ...) -- either way, her music has enriched my life and will continue to do so, that's for sure, and I'll be eternally grateful for that!

No reason to doubt that she's on her way out...it will be sad in so many ways, but thankfully I was paying attention since 1967. How could you not? She's an imprint for me.

To me, this is one of the  seminal recordings in the history of music.  Staggering talent that hits on all cylanders on this, glad she escaped Columbia and found Jerry Wexler/Rick Hall/Muscle Shoals.

Indeed, though I'd been seriously hooked on Etta James for six years or so already. But neither could do what the other did, so... serious hookage on both.

One of the heroines of my last school years when I discovered black music - my thoughts are with her.

that's a great cut.  Love both her version and Dionne Warwick's, and they are so different from each other's versions (just as they were both wonderful but very different signers).

From 2015.

I wish the band had stayed out of her way.  I also wish she had made an entire album of just her singing & accompanying herself on piano.

It was noted today that she also paid Angela Davis' bail in 1970. She's a badass.

The night she sang opera at The Grammys...

Gave me -- and still gives me -- goosbumps.

Love it when artists do something different, and hit it out of the park like that.  The Marvin Gaye National Anthem also comes to mind.
