Sorry I never got a chance to listen Ken, but work never cooperated and when it did, I was immersed in the latest Adelson murder trial on youtube. On number 9, I should have realized it wasn't Gene/Three Sounds by the bass solo which happened so rarely on their records and when Benny Green was ID'd I was sure it was on one of the Japanese CDs he did of Blue Note/funky 60s jazz. But again no time to investigate further and get that one.

I've seen Perry play multiple times with Maria Schneider's orchestra. I never did pick up any of his Steeplechase CDs over the years.

She would have maybe one feature on banjo in a set. 7 Be My Love Hal Galper: Trip the Light Fantastic (Origin) Written by Nicholas Brodzsky/Sammy Cahn Hal Galper: piano, Jeff Johnson: bass, John Bishop: drums Hal Galper asked me to write the liner notes after I interviewed him for The New York City Jazz Record, as he was very pleased with it and short on time since the release date was moved up, since he normally wrote them himself. 8 Gertberg Walk Oscar Pettiford Quartet: We Get the Message (Sonorama) Written by Oscar Pettiford Oscar Pettiford: cello, Hans Koller: tenor sax, Kenny Clarke: drums, Atilla Zoller: guitar A recent discovery of previously unissued European broadcasts. 9 Cool Struttin’ Benny Green Trio: Blue Notes (Somethin’ Else) Written by Sonny Clark Benny Green: piano, Christian McBride: bass, Carl Allen: drums One Benny Green's elusive Japanese CDs. 10 Easy Does It (take 2) Steve White Quartet: Jazz in Hollywood (OJC/Nocturne) Written by Count Basie & Bob Russell Steve White: tenor sax, Jimmy Rowles: piano, Herbie Harper: trombone, Harry Babasin: bass Roy Harte: drums Steve White was a west coast musician who recorded very lttile. 11 Theme From “Arrest and Trial” Jimmy Rowles: Lilac Time (Kokopelli) Written by Branislaw Kaper Jimmy Rowles: piano Jimmy Rowles was recording some of Branislaw Kaper's music for this 1960s TV drama, he stole the sheet music and kept trying to get labels to let him record it. This is from his last CD prior to his death. 12 Turkish March Frank Vignola Trio: Standards Live (Frank Vignola) Written by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Frank Vignola: guitar, Vinnie Raniolo: guitar, Pete Coco: bass Frank Vignola and Vinnie Raniolo are a lot of fun in concert as a duo, with plenty of laughs, too. 13 Crescent Marc Copland: Alter Ego: Lausanne 2022 (TCB) Written by John Coltrane Marc Copland: pianos This is a Bill Evans-like overdub session, but done live with a small audience. 14 Pass It On, Jon Jon Gordon Quartet: The Jon Gordon Quartet (Chiaroscuro) Written by Phil Woods Jon Gordon: alto sax, Phil Woods: alto sax, Kevin Hays: piano, Scott Colley: bass, Bill Stewart: drums Jon Gordon was one of Phil Woods' prized pupils, he took him under his wing early. 15 Some Other Time Ayako Shirasaki Piano Trio: Some Other Time (Jan Matthies) Written by Leonard Bernstein, Betty Comden, Adolph Green Ayako Shirasaki: piano, Noriko Ueda: bass, Quincy Davis: drums This Japanese pianist wasn't widely recorded prior to her death in 2021 at the age of 52 from cancer.
