  2. This amazing first disc, the first appearance of the great Miles Davis Quintet with George Coleman at the Antibes Jazz Festival in 1963. Miles in France – Miles Davis Quintet 1963/64: The Bootleg Series, Vol. 8, Disc 1 This box set is excellent. . . and this may be my favorite disc.
  3. Here’s another video that was published yesterday:
  4. A 42 degree morning! Loving it! Saw nine deer crossing the road near the lights on our dogwood tree and slipping into the forest across the street. Amazing sight! I found a cheap copy of the 2 cd version of this one that arrived yesterday and I am really enjoying the second disc. Excellent recording and great playing. Wish it were longer! Herbie Hancock “River–The Joni Mitchell Letters” Verve cd. On to Another disc from the "Enjoying the Ride" Grateful Dead 60th Anniversary box set, Frost Amphitheater, Stanford University, Palo Alto, CA (8/20/83), disc 3

  6. That's great to hear, two musicians I really enjoy so good to know they work well together. Now I just need them to come to London together, both are here often individually so there's a sllther of hope.
  7. I have probably 1,200 albums in discsox. I created a template to add the leader/group name and have them filed where I can flip through like a Rolodex.
  8. 👍 - saw her live in Kassel with Robert Hurst (b) and Mark Johnson (dr)
  9. Not unlike wondering what Jimi would have done. SO much speculation, but we'll never know.
  10. Good choice! Saw them at Big Ears this year. VERY intense! Now playing ...

  12. YIKES! Those, and the heat, and the haboobs and ... WOW!
  13. And for the rest of the week, I'd put Knight or Kelly and Ramey or Bell...
  14. That was a show worth seeing. Especially the duets with Mills and Moran
  15. Izipho Zam is getting a non rsd reissue.

  17. Wednesday night, 8-20-2025, Yoshi's Oakland Azar Lawrence, the king of TRANE, gave another stellar performance. The guitarist was a little on the "rock-ish" side but no complaints. Great set........
  18. Not at all. I often wonder about this. I finished Geoff Dyer's book 'But Beautiful' last night, and one of the passages towards the end touches on this. He mentions several of the greats who died young, in particular Clifford Brown, who died at twenty-five. He remarked that if Miles Davis had died at a similar age, there would be nothing beyond Birth of the Cool. Hard to even fathom the things that we never got to hear. And when you consider someone like Coltrane, who covered so much ground in such a short amount of time before he died...where would he have gone from there?!
  19. Week 13 picks https://doorfliesopen.com/2025/08/28/cfl-beat-246/ https://pifflespodcast.com/blog/piffles-picks-week-13-2025/ My picks... I'm picking the three home teams this week. Roughriders over Blue Bombers - The Bombers have been hot and cold all year. Tiger-Cats over Argonauts - I don't think the Argos' defense can stop the Ticats' passing attack. Stampeders over Elks - The Elks have been quite good since Fajardo became their starting QB, but I don't think they are ready to beat the Stamps. Maybe in the playoffs. ***** Week 13 previews https://www.cfl.ca/2025/08/29/5-things-to-know-argos-ticats-ok-tire-labour-day-weekend-rivalry/ https://www.cfl.ca/2025/08/29/5-things-to-know-stamps-elks-ok-tire-labour-day-weekend-rivalry/ ***** ***** ***** So far, every Bombers home game has sold out. *****
  20. Yesterday
  21. Is it heretical to wonder if Trane had lived longer would his path have been similar to those of Pharoah, Archie Shepp and Alice Coltrane.
