Noticed that piano too. The drummer's style was not what I expected either. Not bad, but not sure how much of a match it is for this tune. Still, probably a good release for any Art fan because really, how many live recordings of him from the 50s are there? All the live sets I have are 70s onward and in a much different style. I'd love to hear a ballad from this set. I'll probably end up getting it.

Inclined to agree. Plus, the piano sounds out of tune (though that's not rare in clubs) and the sonics are not great (as might be expected from the tape source).

Found a track: Art is bringing it but in comparison to other versions of this tune, I don't know...this rhythm section sounds a bit stuck in the mud on this one. Or is that just me?

Omnivore is a very good company, they do a nice job on their releases.

We made a donation in support of Marian McPartland's Piano Jazz and attended this live taping of the only television edition of the program at SCETV Studios. We received a VHS copy of it, a limited edition of 50. "In Your Own Sweet Way" was a second take necessitated by some problem at the board during take one, which was complete. Dave Brubeck said, "I liked the first one better" during the set. The duo piano CD with Mark Shane and Johnny Varro was recorded live at the 1998 and 1999 Atlanta Jazz Party.

Thanks for clarifying. That now makes sense. It definitely is very poorly worded.

Regarding Boby Wilber & Kenny Davern: Summit Reunion in Atlanta: If the engineer did record the cussing between takes, I believe that it was erased or edited out of the recording. We never did figure out what it was that provoked Davern's outburst and I can't ask producer Phil Carroll, as he died in 2008. I feel it might be taken the wrong way if I asked his son.

I was present for both sets one of the two nights, I think it was May 3 2019. Again, I was present for whichever trio tracks that are included from both sets on May 3, 2019, featuring Buster Williams and Matt Wilson

It's awkwardly worded but I think it's meant to indicate that most of the incomplete songs run to near completion before the tape ran out.

Thanks. I am a big Art pepper fan and this looks very promising. However, the following (highlighted by me) has me a bit wary: "Everything Happens To Me: 1959 – Live At The Cellar utilizes a fly-on-the-wall approach that includes all the existing music as the recordings happened. As a result, the 4-CD / Digital set includes some incomplete tracks, but most songs run near to completion." I can understand if some songs may have not been taped and are missing but what does "most songs run near to completion" mean? That is odd wording and seems to imply that most songs are not complete (it says most songs only run "near to completion"). Can that be true? I hope not.
