The passage is in this thesis here, just search for "white woman" https://andybleaden.blogspot.com/2007/07/thesis-on-john-patton-by-javier.html?m=1 It says clearly that Patton was offended by the cover of That Certain Feeling...(It's even implied that the cover made him so bitter he left the music scene for a while)

Album sleeve is amazing! Now:
-
Curious about how many members heard Stitt in a club back in the day.
-
One of my all-time favorite Christmas albums. Dorothy Ashby is such a badass.
-
Spun this one today. I like Stitt with Patterson best, but this record is no slouch. The title track is a good groove.
-
Have been listening to What Is To Be Done with Larry Ochs, Gerald Cleaver, and Mr Wilco this week. Clean Feed, 2019. Really good, ferocious without being offputting. I recommend!

John Board!!!!

I re-read Moby Dick a few years ago. Wow. Quite a novel. Just started
-
Some recent reads: Now back to Moby Dick which I gave up for awhile.
-
I have a few of their releases. They are indeed very good. Their IG account is indeed peculiar.
-
I have all the ones I want to have on cd. It’s been a few years since I purchased a TP.
-
My favorite from the above is At the DJ Lounge. Not only a Sonny favorite but a jazz favorite.
-
Haven’t listened to this one in a while. Remixes of Monday’s material can be a mixed bag. I like these tonight. Monday Michiru “Alter Ego–Nexus Remixed”

The only way to give these albums proper “period” artwork is to build a time machine, go back, and have them issued in the 1960s. Failing that… we get what we get! FWIW, the Japan-only designs that King used on some titles are pretty appealing. Not all LT’s had concurrent Japanese versions, however. And some of those Kings did not appear in the US until much later.

Interesting. The only woman on a Patton cover that I seem to see as white is on "Got a Good Thing Goin'" and I could be convinced that was not a white woman as well if my arm were twisted and I saw stars. . . . "That Certain Feeling". . . I would see no reason to change that cover. That model reminds me of my childhood neighbor and often babysitter Iona Harris, who I thought was one of the most beautiful gals in the world at the time, and she was not a "white woman." Maybe I'm misunderstanding your post. Kenny Burrell “The Road to Love” High Note cd I really like the engineering on this. . . puts me there.

This is pretty interesting. I know sometime in the late 60's-early 70's? or so BN were redesigning some classic BN sleeves (for the way worse, imo) like Soul Station. So who knows?

Disc 5 of this fascinating set, Bob Dylan Bootleg Series Vol. 18, “Through the Open Window”

I realize LP is king these days, although it is sad that a lot of young people consider LPs an artifact and often do not even play them - they don't give a crap that the Jackie's Bag LP is missing three critical songs . It reminds of Zev Feldman constantly referring to his releases as 'product'.. When I take over from Don Was, I will steer Blue Note away from the 'LP is king' mantra.

And then they canceled a National Symphony concert (of several) I was lookimg forward to to accomadate FIFA (the world's most corrupt organization meeting the world's most corrupt government) for a World Cup draw.

***** I wish they still made plates like this! ***** The 1962 Grey Cup was the first CFL game I saw on television. I was there at the 1996 Grey Cup!
