Probably one for the Brits more than the rest of the forum, but sad news that Rob Grant, the "Grant" of "Grant Naylor" the writing team behind the original series of Red Dwarf, died suddenly and apparently unexpectedly yesterday. For people of my age group, those first four or so episodes of Red Dwarf were pretty much formative. So this is sad news indeed. RIP.

I've listened to a few more of them this evening. I think after the second record most of them left so it wasn't really the same mix. There's a really sharp decline. Reeeaaally sharp. Now listening to this one: Obviously not the world's greatest record either. But not terrible. I find it hard to put myself in the mindset of Bob Thiele as he set about persuading a dying Louis Armstrong that he needed to record a version of "The Creator Has A Master Plan".

The Last Poets - Chastisement I hadn't really listened to the Last Poets before other than their first two records and Hustlers Convention. This is surprisingly terrible.

Some very interesting musicians born on this day! Also, pianist Chris Anderson (1926-2008), bassist Hilliard Greene (b. 1958), and bari saxophonist Claire Daly (19580-2024).

Pim mentioned driving home from Tilburg in another thread today... Did that four times this week and now it's enough... It's not the prettiest of cities, buildings are strangely small - as seen in the picture- and the edges are still rough and there's nothing glorious about that... But the city does have one of the best bands playing South African Jazz in the Low countries, the various incarnations of Eric van der Westen's quintet...

Thank you so much. But "proud" ? Most of the time I already think about what I we might do next. Time flies, you gotta go further and further, not to stand still. With the singer, well I didn´t want to make only instrumental records, and by the way, a stunning young lady singing with passion..... well I get older. Played all them ballads once without really knowing about the lyrics. As "older" I get, as more I want to get INSIDE the song. ( "older" from my birthdate, not from my mental and physical condition 😄 ) Anyway, it was a nice thing and ......pround.....well I think it´s a better and more personal statement than the album before "Waltz for Serena", which was more like a straight anhead album. Just today I had to do another little promotion clip at the label´s studio and signed for more collaboration..... And I think every musician will tell you that after recording something he thinks what he could have done better......
