Alan Broadbent loved working with her. She died far too young, but left some great recordings.

    Irene Kral

    +1, fascinating album.
  4. BFrank

    Irene Kral

I always liked Kral Space (not too crazy about the cover, though)
  5. Stravinskij, Ravel, Debussy from this box. Meyer is the greatest as she never overplays the score.
  6. My preorder came in last week. Have yet to crack it open beyond a quick scan however.

  9. There also is a version of "On The Alamo" from November 1965 on the "Suitably Zoot" LP on Pumpkin 108. Plus one on the "The Swinger" album on Pablo from December 1979. Looks like a personal favorite indeed.
  10. March 18 Courtney Pine - 1964
  11. Considering his show in Charlotte as well but only for a chance to see him live. I have no idea what to expect.

    Irene Kral

I really enjoy her relative vibratoless interpretations.
  14. He's coming to Portland, ME too and I'm thinking about skipping it. It's happening August 1st and I'm pretty sure that I'll be out of the area then.

I like all of her music -- but these two are my favorite Irene Kral albums: and

    Irene Kral

I'm a big fan of both her early stuff and her very different 70's recordings. I never put together that she and Roy were siblings!
  17. Big Beat Steve

    Irene Kral

Would her brother Roy (+ Jackie) qualify as "Kral" too?
  18. Good stuff!
