  2. Andrew, I've sent you another pm - Dan Stewart has contacted Ken Poston from the LAJI (Los Angeles Jazz Institute) & he is interested in taking your uncle's notes. Contact details (for Ken) are in the pm
  3. One of my favorite films, and it was on TCM a couple nights ago. I have the Criterion Blu-ray release, but watched it again anyway, and I always see something different. Also, it never occurred to me that the entire film takes place in a 24-hour period. This was mentioned by the TCM Host.
  4. Seeing most of them on the TCM streaming platform inside HBO Max. Music on the silent is modern. It should be noted, though, that Prime has a pretty good selection of mif-century Noir and quality Bs. Just finished: Music was a modern orchestration of original themed by Chaplin.
  5. I had that Vanguard at one point; '65 seems like where things really get going. Gathering all the Lacy Hats into one box might be difficult. That is a lot of material.
  6. Yesterday
  7. What music (if any) was on the version you saw? And where are you seeing all these films?
  8. Bill Ackman has offered $65 billion (cash and stock) to take over Universal Music Group. https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/mergers-and-acquisitions/how-ackman-is-trying-to-force-universal-music-group-onto-the-us-market/ar-AA20ksMi
  9. Micah Awe has signed with the Alouettes. So the Als effectively traded Darnell Sankey to the Lions for him. https://3downnation.com/2026/04/07/not-going-awe-montreal-alouettes-sign-cfl-veteran-micah-awe/ ***** Combine analysis https://www.cfl.ca/2026/04/07/which-linemen-boosted-their-stock-at-the-cfl-combine/ ***** I think it's noteworthy that the best team was awarded the Grey Cup only five teams in eleven seasons. *****
  10. Miles Davis Bootleg Series Vol.8, Disc 1
  11. I love him. He lives here in Viena and plays often at my favourite club „ZWE”, I have played with him..... not bad, I have it but must admit I dont listen often to it, somehow.....sounds a bit funny to me. Somehow not as I am used from the BN label. I mean I listen quite often to other BN records, usually in the small ours, maybe still at a club where I had a gig if the DJ spins them, or back at home before trying to catch some sleep. But somehow, with this kind of music it doesnt work for me so well.....
  12. Orquesta Cheo Belen Puig – Danzones
  13. 👍- the original LP from 1967 on my shelf
  14. Alexander von Schlippenbach: Light Blue - Schlippenbach Plays Monk. Enja Records enja CD 9104-2 [Germany 1997]
  15. Megha Majumdar: A Guardian And A Thief
  16. Paradise - season 2, HULU
  17. Fred Hersch just canceled his 3 New Mexico concerts scheduled for this week because of "illness". Hope he's O.K. considering his past medical history.
  18. Since this is a Decca/Brunswick release it cannot be part of that "editing" controversy that involved George Avakian and Columbia Records in the mid-50s for certain Louis Armstrong recordings and caused quite a bit of indignation in jazz circles IIRC. But others may have been going that route too.
  19. Is the "Dippermouth Blues" here an edit? It sounds as if Armstrong plays the same solo twice. His take on the classic King Oliver solo is hip, love it.
  20. "Concert made possible by a donation from Ken and Nancy Dryden." Way to go!
