  2. Jack Teagarden “Think Well of Me” Verve cd The last few times I’ve played this music I’ve played either the stereo or the mono LP, this time it’s the Verve cd. In any case the music is just so good.
  3. 3CD/4LP Half Note set would be the cat's meow. I have the Audio Fidelity and Creation/Brazilia vinyl, but a remastered and complete concert is deserved.
  4. The drawback to a Miles/Keith live set might be the things with Leon Chancler. By his own later admission, he was not yet up to the task at hand.
  5. I would even watch her commercials and smile. A genuine spirit indeed.
  6. Guitars don't kill shit. That's reality.
  7. Today
  8. This is beyond sad. I'd watch any movie with her or any of the other members of SCTV in it, and they'd always be the high point of the film. We've lost Guy Caballero, Johnny LaRue, and now Lola Hatherton. Melonville will never be the same. RIP, Ms. O'Hara.
  9. Who else could make authentic appearances in both Best In Show and Home Alone? She was excellent in Schitt's Creek—perhaps the very reason to watch the series. She also added insight to the John Candy documentary on Netflix. An enormous talent and genuine spirit. 💔
  10. Yes yes yes to a "complete" Half Note set. I believe it would be: John Coltrane • At The Half Note, Complete March 19, 1965 "Chim Chim Cheree" (20:16) "Impressions" (21:58) March 26, 1965 "One Down, One Up" (27:40) "Afro Blue" (12:44) April 2, 1965 "Creation" (23:11) "I Want To Talk About You" (15:26) "Afro Blue" (5:40) May 5, 1965 "Song of Praise" (19:39) "My Favorite Things" (22:47) ================= It seems like a complete-ish Miles Davis box set when Keith Jarrett was in the band is overdue.
  11. Oh I have to purchase this one. It seems that this is the one with "Round Midnight" on it ? Because I saw them in 1978 and they played a stunnig wild version of "Round Midnight". Oh, such a nice album ! I have it on those RCA black&white series, from the late 70´s. I remember I had a nice conversation with Bill Hardman when he played in Cehoslovacia and I played with my group, long ago, and during intermission he said he remembers that record very well. We had a nice conversation really.
  12. Could be. Where's Pete when we need him?
  13. oh that would be great !
  14. Interesting. I have a Clifford Brown-Max Roach vinyl very old and its also titled Basin Street but seems to be a studio record. It has mostly Richie Powell´s tunes, but also Dameron´s "The Scene is Clean".
  15. at least I can say I saw him live once. Was a great gig, he was together with Dee Dee Bridgewater on stage, it was double billing. So great. And a stellar rhythm section. One of my European favourites was on piano: Siegfried Kessler, he was soooo great always, with Archie Shepp etc. On bass was David Eubanks, it was after his tenure with Dex. He had double booking those days, he played with Jackie McLean and the next day with Jimmy Witherspoon/Dee Bridgewater. I can´t remember who was on drums. Too bad they did not record it. It was incredible !
  16. Gunesh - Gunesh Some 1980s Soviet jazz rock from Turkmenistan.
  17. Thanks Mark. You're a brave man to publish those sidebar lists! I'm so glad to see love for 'Transition' and 'Crescent', and such an eloquent description of the transcedence of 'A Love Supreme' (which was my sudden immediate gateway in jazz in 1972 when I first heard it).
  18. Yeah, that's true. Oftentimes the individual cds would be more expensive. And in some cases the box set is the only practical way to get the music.
  19. I often find them prohibitive in terms of both space and cost. I tend to do cost/benefit analysis as far as buying them and keeping them. I only kept a handful of the big Mosaic sets in my collection as the music became available in other CD configurations(though I've kept a lot Selects). Yet things like the 90's Atlantic boxes on Trane, Ornette, and Mingus and the Prestige boxes on Trane, Rollins, Miles, and Dolphy, and the Milestone Joe Henderson box are perfect for my needs. I tend to work straight through a box set when I listen to it, regardless of size.
  20. quintet with Marion Brown? the concert with the Ayler Brothers would be interesting to hear as well, if it were taped.
  21. Slightly 😝? Typical Concord fail.
  22. l would love to see a 1975 Miles Davis Japan tour box and the rest of the Coltrane Half Note stuff ("Creation"!). Would be nice to get the Olatunji concert on vinyl, too. We're more likely to get Miles 1987 live and The Gentle Side of John Coltrane remastered by an audiophile dudebro.
  23. Sam Ostropov - Blight Music Fun idea: a recent record exploring the kind of music that the David Murray Octet and others like it made in their prime. There are lots of roads that were never fully explored.
