A hearty F*CK YOU to Alex Bregman. Also, A hearty WELCOME TO WRIGLEY, Alex Bregman! Now go out and help the Cubs win a World Series. My mom probably doesn't have a lot of time left to see one more.

I have to think that it's a "classic" since it's been pirated/bootlegged more times than I can count. And with good reason!

With a few exceptions, I like the Cuban pop music of the time. Some excellent singing and fine arrangements. Do you know this one?

It is streamable! With a similar cover but not quite the same. Really one of my favourite Cuban records of its period (which is saying something). It assume a "Conjband" is meant to be a midway between a conjunto and a big band, because there are some really good horn arrangements and surprising space for solos. It's nice to hear boleros with alto solos. Obviously the jam session is a classic, but this one is more in the vein of the pop music of it's time.

👍- as CD on my shelf ...

My guess is the piano player was Joe Zawinul.

Teddy Edwards appeared at a Jazz Party I attended toward the end of his life. He was not in the best of shape, but nonetheless still sounded very good to me. Was glad I had the chance to see him in person. Hard to select one favorite album by Teddy, but one of my favorites is "Together Again" with Howard McGhee and Phineas Newborn,Jr.

💥 👏 Really nice. I hadn't heard it!
-
“The Golden Horn of Billy Franklin” Grand Prix Series mono LP It’s not Billy Franklin. It’s Don Goldie. Very much in the mould of the Teagarden group he was then a part of. Really nice sound as well.

What Classical Music Are You Listening To?
Peter Friedman replied to StarThrower's topic in Classical Discussion

You do indeed remember correctly!

Can you be a little more specific - having a hard time looking this up 🙂. Thanks

IIRC the director (Dudley Murphy?) also directed Black and Tan Symphony with EKE and St. Louis Blues with Bessie Smith.
