  2. Didn't Charles Gayle don makeup too for his shows?
  3. Yeah, Neil is an essential part of Rush. So glad I got to see them with Neil. Irreplacable IMO. Led Zep reached the same conclusion when John Bonham died (though Jason has filled in for subsequent reunions).... Not going to pay somewhere nere a K for two tix to a Neil Peartless RUSH.
  4. 🤘Have it on CD. Heavy Metal Brötz! 🤘
  5. Know him only from the Das Boot soundtrack. RIP.
  6. Today
  7. RIP, I enjoyed much of his Passport and pre-Passport work. He was 89.
  8. Some jazz artists do that too, facepaints and costumes, Art Ensemble Of Chicago, etc. Nothing wrong with some good old showmanship. Music-wise, have no opinion on the group called Kiss.
  9. RIP Klaus Doldinger! This was a favorite of mine in college. I also enjoy this with my man John Mealing, recorded shortly after he left If.
  10. I never dug his Passport period recordings too much but have accumulated most of his 60s Philips albums through the years. Saw him being interviewed on several TV jazz documentaries, and he always struck me as down-to-earth, factual, open-minded, easygoing and a pleasant character in every respect. No big-shot allures, no show-offiness ... RIP and thanks!
  11. ❤️ 😁 Excellent! Got it from Amazon at an very good price.

  13. R.I.P. This was a favorite back in college:
  14. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed 👍
  15. Wonderful quintet on Wednesday. At Jazz Gallery. Michael Attias on alto sax, Satoshi Takeishi on percussion, Eric McPherson on drums, John Hebert on bass & a special guest from Berlin on vibes. Can’t find her name. 2 sets. Takeishi is brilliant. Hebert is always great in these in/out jazz contexts. last night at Roulette Lee Renaldo, David Watson & Brian Chase incredible hour improv. Drones, awesome bagpipe care of Watson. Chase always great. Renaldo was even better than I expected. Great electronics, great guitar with feedback. Even some gorgeous piano with the great grand piano at the venue. Like nothing I’ve ever heard overall. tonight at The Stone Henry Fraser on double bass, Brandon Seabrook on guitar (and banjo?) & the *great* Randy Peterson on drums
  16. You convinced me, I need the Brooks as well...

    RIP Aurelio

I just learned that the wonderful Garifuna musician, Aurelio, died earlier this year in a plane crash. https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/aurelio-martinez-dead-honduran-musician-garifuna-1235299246/ He released multiple fine recordings on Stonetree Records. http://www.stonetreerecords.com/music/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l446_o6bsnY&list=RDl446_o6bsnY&start_radio=1
  18. I don’t know how the original sounds but I do know that this one sounds great! As I mentioned the artwork is done very nicely as well. Shiney cover and very hard cardboard. A quality reissue I must say. Happy with it.
  19. Klaus Doldinger used his 'Passport' for heaven - he died on Thursday evening surrounded by his family - R.I.P.
  20. Jermaine Landsberger - With Heart and Soul (GLM/Edition Collage)
