  3. I have more live Rahsaan '70s recordings than I need, but this one is primo. This is an excellent reissue.

  5. Was Keepnews involved in that?
  6. The worst thing about it is that Pablo (1) did not consult with expert Coltrane discographers like Wild before issuing the set and (2) did not make corrections even after they were confronted with convincing evidence of the mistakes.
  7. Betty Roche's Singin' & Swingin'
  8. This, and I will add Bud as another contributatory influence on Hawes. Plus, I think that Bud and Tatum are closer than Hawes and Newborn. Those two paths continued to diverge. That church thing came to play. Some people are REALLY fond of the David Axelrod stuff, but ..not me. Yet there it is
  9. There was an article in disc'ribe, the magazine Michael Cuscuna and David Wild ran at the time of their Coltrane discography, that already stated there were no tapes to be found.

  12. Yesterday
  13. Craving some jazz vocals. Etta Jones' From the Heart. Lots of highlights here. Good Morning, Heartache is beautiful. There's not one that I don't enjoy

    Anthony Braxton

Polarizing. WOW. Dortmund (1976) changed everything (for me). When I was studying bass clarinet in my early teens, and heard this, this record stopped me straight in my tracks, and I never played the same since.
  15. Susannah McCorkle “I’ll Take Romance” Concord cd. I’ll take romance as well. Frank Wess is really nice here. 225×222 16.2 KB

  17. Right? This album is BADASS. Everything clicks! Dude, how cool is that. Different worlds. Wish I could've experienced that. 👍 I am really warming up to Art's Galaxy output.
  18. This happened in the early 60's, but my mom recognized NKC straight away while he was taking a break at an Akron club, while enjoying dinner with my grandparents and recognized him straight away. My mom told me how nice he was when she went up to him and said "hi."
  19. The band with Jerry Jeff Walker? That's crazy!
