Some things I take into consideration: A lot of these artists are there nearly every year, so I might lower their priority. But it doesn't make missing them any less painful [Ches Smith, Mary Halvorson, Tyshawn Sorey, Zorn, Ribot, Caroline Shaw, James Brandon Lewis] And of course scheduling logistics can make a difference (Bijou to the Mill & Mine is a long trek)

I wonder whatever became of the "deluxe" edition of this live session. It'd be great to have the 5-track version of the album available digitally. In the meantime, we still have "Junk Blues": And...does anyone else hear Coltrane's "Alabama" in the melody of "Junk Blues"?

I had them in various boxes, thrown into storage in the order acquired (after I ripped them to disk). It was a jumble. I had to move so I took the opportunity to reorganize my storage and get all the sets sorted in order.

Are all those box sets 'inbound' or 'outbound' for a new assignation?

Author Sue Miller plays flute and has her own charanga in Britain. She concentrates on that style, much about Eddie Plamieri, Rolando Lozano and the like.

I don't have the set, but have LPs by a number of the artists featured. I don't think you could go wrong at the price Tom. This thread covers a lot of ground:

Thanks to @cayetano Frederiksberg Records, based in Brooklyn, New York, is preparing for a 50th-anniversary reissue of the Charles Tyler Ensemble's album *Voyage From Jericho*, to be released on January 23, 2026. Recorded in July 1974 at Studio Wee in New York City and originally released in 1975 by Akba Records, this historic session showcases the group led by saxophonist Charles Tyler (1941-1992) pushing boundaries with intense improvisations, a spiritual side, and raw emotion. Along with top-tier collaborators—including Arthur Blythe, Earl Cross, Ronnie Boykins, and Steve Reid—Tyler shapes a sound where the intensity of free jazz and a poignant depth, celebrating freedom and expression, coexist. This release comes with a 28-page booklet that includes previously unreleased photos, as well as detailed notes by critic, researcher, and essayist Cisco Bradley. This is such great news. Heard this one for the first time only a year ago and fell in love immediately. Such raw and pure energy. Great band as well. So good I was seriously considering saving up money to buy an original in the end. This one will do fine: apparently deluxe version and according to our own @clifford_thornton from the tapes and with consent of the Tyler estate. Looking forward to this!
