I saw him live around that time, with his brother Antoine in the band. It was great, only that he overused the microphone, which he wouldn't really have needed in a club of that size.

Nah. The label just doesn't think this stuff will sell. That's the bottom line.

Playing this one again. It’s so soothing and softly swinging. I like the musical mind of Dick Cary, a lot. “Dick Cary & his Tuesday Night Friends playing Dick Cary Originals” Arbor Jazz cd

Interesting. Has whoever produced the Doubletime CDs ran off with the tapes?!
-
guess if you meet Gene & are in politics, the future is what it is!
-
Not the only president that Gene Simmons has visited. In 2012, he and his beautiful wife were in Peru, and they visited the Peruvian President Ollanta Humala. You can see part of the visit in the video below (in Spanish). Today, Humala is in jail in Peru.

Not going down political lane, nor what I really think of Gene....
-
I have a handful of his CDs since they turn up so often in the dollar bins, and I've enjoyed them all. But I would give this one the nudge. Arguably slightly dated by now, but it's intense, highly personal, and passionate modern jazz.

This kind of puts the Kennedy Center honors into proper context. Gene sounds like Trump's kind of guy.

I'm listening to this too: I'm streaming it via YT, deciding whether I'm going to plop for the Mack Avenue reissue. Of course, I probably will.

Short (under 40 minutes) but sweet.

If there was a past thread, please direct me to it. Otherwise I welcome some recommendations. Thanks!
