  4. I got mine too.
  5. Looks like I'm missing this year due to a combination of circumstances. Enjoy, all!
  6. Symphonie fantastique, as performed by Jean Martinon & the Orchestre National de l'ORTF:
  7. Turtle Island Quartet in Chattanooga. I enjoyed dinner with the band last night and they have a new CD out in April, Island Prayers, downloads should be out now.
  8. Today
  9. Joe Lovano “Tenor Time” Somethin’ Else Japan cd
  10. Although the labels are all owned by Universal I believe I do think that 'fifties compilation will come out on Craft/Concord. https://craftrecordings.com/products/john-coltrane-the-best-of-john-coltrane-lp
  11. Wait until you read the notional book. It will just be endless dense notional chapters. One of which can definitely be the notional "soul boy" chapter (great name).
  12. How does Impulse get to do a compilation from '57 & '58? (I admit I've lost track of who owns what.)
  13. Thank you both very much for solving that mystery for me. It looks like Ramon only made one album which I’ll have a look at. I also see that he’s on Rashied Ali’s live at Slugs 1967 which I have and will give another listen to. It appears from a posting from his daughter on YouTube that Ramon Morris died January 2017.
  14. I received my wristband yesterday.
  15. @HutchFan, thank you so much ! Yeah, exactly the tunes you like are also my favourites, because they are my style, and I am so proud of "Miss Ra" (Andreea Irina), who gave me that inspiration. It was magic. Here a foto I shot exactly in the moment after she played that piano run, I asked her "Gee, that was great, what was that" and she laughed as you see in the photo and said "I dunno" 😄 She wears one of my Pharoah Sanders T Shirts 🙂
  16. Ben Allison & Medicine Wheel - Riding the Nuclear Tiger (Palmetto, 2002)
  17. Crusaders/,Joe Sample sold massive buttloads of records!
  18. I'm enjoying this thread, possibly more than the notional book that @Rabshakehis writing on the subject A personal take, listening to Sanborn, The Crusaders and Grover in the mid-late 70s I had no concept of them as Jazz but as extension of War, EW&F etc. This was definitely "Soul Boy" music. (and this at a time when an initial exposure to A Love Supreme left me completely cold and befuddled). I now realise that they were very important early gateways to many years of Jazz listening and as such I request our esteemed writer gives them a chapter in his book.
  19. Or as the first indication that the difference between listening functionality and dancing/social-functionalitywas reaching a point of no return
  20. Impulse! Records and partner labels will celebrate Coltrane’s catalog throughout 2026 with...and “The Essential John Coltrane,” a Target-exclusive limited-edition 2LP, available now. Probably no tariffs at Target? https://variety.com/2026/music/news/john-coltrane-estate-100-celebration-1236667036/
  21. Sony is reissuing "Milestones" in their 7" (packaging) SACD series. A hybrid SACD each for the stereo and mono. I've bought all the previous Miles (and Santana) 7" SACD releases from Sony but so far I'm passing on this as the tariffs make the price really high.
