V-Disc Big Band Set Is Coming!!!
Stompin at the Savoy replied to JSngry's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
Did you check the status of your order on the Mosaic website? Sometimes the email notifications get lost. -

Just read the review, sounds like it's a very impressive bit of kit. And finally a Rega deck that switches speeds by a button, that's the reason I didn't go with Rega last time.

Been mentioned many times, but as always I would love an official release of the 1966 Newport set. I would wonder if there’s a better source hiding somewhere, but the circulating version is really not too shabby and could surely be improved.

Fantastic! When I upgraded it was like having a whole new LP collection!

4 LPs. -
I don't think you'll be disappointed. The vocal elements are not pervasive and seem quite appropriate. The writing, arranging and playing I think are killer. Now I've been returning to this one quite a bit.

I still have mine as well. My second introduction into Bop. My first came from the public library and was Diz's Groovin' High as a Lp. I was probably around 12 years old and found Bop to be amazing. Still do... -

My first box was The complete Charlie Parker on Savoy 5 LP set. 60 guilders at the time. I still have it.

I didn't know about this. Thanks for posting, I'm always interested to hear what Ross is up to. Just read the blurb on the BN site, I hope the weighty inspirations don't forestall the music too much. Only one way to find out.

No but a strengthening of the collective feeling of solidarity was almost definitely achieved. I'd say that is important, it may not kill any fascists but it may well in the longer run kill the fascism. Or at the very least help to subjugate it. If Bruce or any other artists want to make common cause with that then I will applaud. It may be dismissed as just gesture but some gestures are a lot more important than others.

The Box Set Hobby
Kevin Bresnahan replied to Stompin at the Savoy's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
My first box sets were classical LP boxes. I think they were Time/Life boxes... one was maybe a Beethoven box? My first Jazz box sets were my first order from Mosaic. I know that the Tina Brooks box was in that order. Maybe the Freddie Redd CD box as well. -

Any Coltrane is good for me but I am still hoping most for later period Trane.

I’ve added this to my wantlist. I now realize I’ve seen Jaribu Shahid perform with David Murray at the Bimhuis quite a while ago.
