  2. Oded Tzur “Translator’s Note” Enja/Muzak Japan cd Oded Tzur on tenor saxophone, Shai Maestro on piano, Petros Klampanis on bass and Ziv Ravitz on drums. Each member makes great contributions to intriguing compositions.
  3. I've had that Bleu Regard CD plus the two Live At Sweet Basil's (also Bleu Regards) for a number of years now
  4. La Candela
  5. I have owned the original LP for many years and was pleasantly surprised by the sonics on the remaster, which I’ve only listened to digitally — it really jumps out at you and has a lot of detail. I think folks will be impressed by the job Frederiksberg have done, even if they’re familiar with this music.
  6. Something very different than my last listen, Ben Pollack Vol. 3, on Jazz Oracle cd. White guy jazz from a band that often had some great players White guy jazz from a band that often had some great players (this volume for example has Jack Teagarden and Jimmy McPartland). An acquired taste perhaps but I acquired the taste last century and rely on this type of music to boost my spirits. And Jazz Oracle always has incredible sound quality for music of this vintage.
  7. Today
  8. Yes, a nicely done real CD with an outer slipcase
  9. I have the original LP ( in great shape) and the Bleu regard cd.
  10. I assume this is a real CD and not a CDR? I really like his two ESP dates and Saga of the Outlaws, so a couple more leader dates would be nice to add. I got to hear him play in the mid-80s at the American Church in Paris. One set was Monk tunes. He also played When Johnny Comes Marching Home! How is the FollyFun Music?
  11. CadNor used to stock the CD, unfortunately they are sold out. But they do still have copies of the equally great Live In Europe album from the same period with a similar lineup: https://cadnor.com/products/charles-tyler-live-in-europe-bleuregard-1960?_pos=1&_sid=deb0b71a2&_ss=r
  12. yes, this one: https://www.discogs.com/release/2938487-Charles-TylerEnsemble-Voyage-From-Jericho and there is even a chance that some folks will part with their copies in the coming months when the reissue in their preferred format hits the market... got some nice BYG LPs that way recently...
  13. Yes, see cayetano's previous post.
  14. I know that this is a long shot-but since this post has been resurrected- I thought it was worth a try... I just purchased a partial of the Maynard Ferguson Mosaic from a seller on Ebay - first seven discs plus the large booklet. I am waiting for the package. I just now need discs 8-10, plus the box-which finding the box is doubtful I know. I am willing to wait for the original final three discs-rather than look for CD-R. This has always been a hard set to find at a reasonable price. Any leads appreciated-and I would do a trade if needed, for something of mine. Thanks!
  15. So there was an earlier CD of this?
  16. Kindle edition of Art and Laurie Pepper's bio - Straight Life: The Story Of Art Pepper - is on sale today at Amazon for 3 bux.
  17. Criterion has reissued Charlotte Zwerin's film "Thelonious Monk Straight No Chaser" on DVD and it's 1/2 price at Amazon right now. I remember when this was out of print and they were asking big bucks for a used DVD at Amoeba.
  18. Trying something beautiful and focused with this little window of time to myself. . . . Carmen McRae “Alone – Live at the Dug” JVC XRCD24
  19. +1. I have an ancient burn of this of unknown origin, but the download would both upgrade the fidelity and legitimize the ownership. If a decently priced CD appeared on the used market, I'd jump on it. Bummed that this continues the recent trend of not offering CD releases of desirable reissues.
  20. Charlie Parker, Plays Cole Porter (Verve) Duke Ellington Orchestra, 1941 (Alamac)
  21. George Lewis with George Guesnon's New Orleans Band, Endless the Trek, Endless the Search (American Music)
