The photo of the session seems to be reversed from the music.

Yes indeed. Contemporary had excellent live recordings. Its a favorite label I have colleted for many years beside Pacific Jazz/World Pacific

Yeah. That's a great record. Sabuuuuu

You mean the Sabu album? That is killer! It sounds very ahead of its time to my ears, like proto-bugalu in places. -
It's no Jazz Espagnole

I have gotten to be friends with forum member @Stonewall15. He and I are both fans of David Simon's work, including The Wire. Recently, Ms. TTK and I binged another David Simon series, Treme, about Post-Katrina New Orleans. I found many aspects of this show to be incredibly moving, especially the segments involving the brass bands and Black Masking Indians. Clarke Peters (Albert "Big Chief" Lambreaux) and Wendell Pierce (Antoine Batiste), both of whom were also in The Wire, were fantastic. The ending of this show, from my perspective, was more feel-good than that of The Wire, but New Orleans needed all the feel-good it could get at that time. Curious if there are other fans of the show.

I’ve been wanting to revisit this newest from Joel Ross, one of my favorites of the new cats, but it got lost in a few stacks of new arrivals. Found it! Great disc. Joel Ross “nublues” Blue Note cd

Last time I was in a library I was writing my Ph.D dissertation Edit: Later I visited some historic libraries as a tourist, not as a reader

Was listening to the 2nd Big Satan album, Souls Saved Hear. Better imho than the first - just wonderful, compact anarchy. Marc Ducret is so good.
-
First time I listened to them I thought it was a Du Nann work, but it wasn’t. Guess Contemporary had a good vibe whoever was behind the console. I don’t have a bad sounding Contemporary.

Koerner Hall? That will be great.

I find myself buying more than ever these days (and will have to have a clear out soon). As a regular visitor to our National Trust historic houses and gardens, most of these have second hand bookshops where bargains can be found for a few £. Similarly, Oxfam. I don't think I've used a library for 30 years !

Indeed - hard to believe that you are not there, facing the stage. My copies are the green deep-groove pressing.

Surprisingly all the instruments has a perfect balance and the illusion of being there is overwhelming. Definitely a great recording.
