  2. Disc 1 is from 1977, disc 2 is from 1976. Both excellent performances.
  3. Yes, I got mine a few days ago. Sound is decent and the music is great. John Collins and Lee Young (Lee is more felt than heard often, but still glad he's there!)!
  4. Anyway the Tone Poet sounds better then originals and later Japanese reissues, king included, I have.

    RIP, John Pisano

Summer Nights is my favourite Joe Pass album because Pass plays it so freely (even more so than the famous For Django), but that's also because of John Pisano's solid backing. A great artisan. RIP.
  10. I received today the CD of Nat King Cole - Live at The Blue Note Chicago. I am very glad I purchased it.Will Friedwalds's liner notes are interesting and summarize well the highlights of the music.
  11. Shelly Manne & His Men “Jazz from the Pacific Northwest” Reel to Real cd 1 Two killer performances, one from the Monterey Jazz Festival, the other from the Penthouse in Seattle. Great bands.
  12. Blue groovin’ this morning. Jack McDuff “Ain’t No Sunshine” Reel to Real cd 1

I bet he made a nice piece of change for this one! Rip
  14. Recorded "live" @ Liederhalle Stuttgat on April 15th, 1991 .... more power and glory on offer ....
  15. Believe his outings with Thelonious Monk @ London are might fine ....
  16. RIP. When I was in high school, my favorite song was Constant Rain by Brasil '66.
  17. Does anyone know of any biographies of Glenn Miller, apart from the one by George T. Simon? Somewhere I read that Gene Lees, the editor and publisher of Jazzletter, was working on a Miller biography prior to his death in 2010 but I have not seen anything showing that it was published.
  18. Not obscure but underrated : Herbie Lewis ! I love him, he appears on many live dates and recordings sessions but seems to be more a musician´s musician. But I say it was love from first hearing: Saw him with an ultimate Dream Band of Jackie McLean, Bobby Hutcherson, Herbie Lewis, Billy Higgins and his solo on the first tune "Blue´n Boogie" was a highlight of special quality. I love his sound and his touch of the strings, to hear him pluggin´the bass.....
