  1. I mentioned this at the time and encouraged members to grab as many OJCs as possible, post Concord purchase.
  2. This explains it - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Concord_Records
  3. True, but at least there is a party predisposed to protecting the "primary sources". No small thing.
  4. Another from Jon Rune Strom:
  5. I got it from Jon Rune Strom.
  6. Here are a couple of Lazaro's images.
  7. At the invitation of Lazaro Vega I attended a recording, for later broadcast, of the Frode Gjerstad Trio with guest Steve Swell. The group was completed by bassist Jon Rune Strom and drummer Paal Nilssen-Love. After the session I guided them to the Cocoa Cottage, a local b&b. Later in the evening they joined Ann and me at our house for a delightful evening of stories and "lies". This morning we were invited to breakfast with the group and we wished them well in their travels to Chicago, Montreal and beyond.
  8. An early '70s "reissue" would have been mastered by Les Koenig, claimed to be the best lacquer cutter on the West Coast, and the label owner. These were all hight quality pressings. This is where reissuing and repressing becomes really confusing for folks not in the biz.
  9. I had all the Pepper dates on lp and now have the cd box. There is also a dandy Russ Freeman / Shelly Manne duet reissued on Contemporary.
  10. Ah, ok - they issued 400/500 jazz cds with that "typo" since 1990. I understand.
  11. it took you 30 years to notice this?
  12. You can't replace Chu, all you can do is send a sub.
  13. All the best to Dan, a true believer. None better.
  14. We will be leaving our house in the next 18 months (estimation) and we have been here since 1984. We have absorbed my parents stuff, Ann's parents stuff and our own considerable accumulations. I have begun thinning my classical cd collection and am now well over 500 discs. I am looking for suggestions to make this as easy as possible / balanced against getting screwed. Any suggestions from folks going through this sort of thing?
  15. Just heard a reporter say "It's effecting animals. I've seen birds and squirrels in places they shouldn't ought to be."
  16. Symphony 8 (aka 9) from this box. Maag always has an interesting take on things. Thanks to Larry for the recommendation.
  17. Material close to my blood flow.
  18. Wonderful stuff - I have all these recordings in other packages.
  19. I thought Roscoe's set was dandy - he had 50 minutes to present music spanning 52 years of his life and presented a suite giving each member of the two quartets a space to shine. Fred Berry was a big surprise to many of the folks I spoke with. He had two shots - one on flugelhorn (lovely sound) and the other on trumpet. Just got home - more tomorrow.
  20. Guess you are just better folks over there. Sorry we don't measure up.
  21. Local/national news is local/national news. What is the Texas coverage in Nepal? Hmm..
