  1. Disappointingly late in the game for Taborn's name appear.
  2. Bud should be on the cover as well.
  3. Why would anyone respond to any of this at this point?
  4. Sonny's Crib from this:
  5. Speaking of money over scale, Alfred Lion paid Billy Higgins an extra $50 per session - not a small amount in the '60s (that was my weekly net working for Jazz Record Mart/Delmark in 1966/7).
  6. No mention of "Ella Speed"?
  7. I have always hoped for more Ella.
  8. This stuff makes me dizzy for an hour or two, and then all is normal again.
  9. Don DeMichael was a great inspiration, friend and supporter when I arrived in Chicago. I miss his warm friendship.
  10. I was reacting to Jim's last paragraph.
  11. What he said.
  12. Some jazz instincts exhibited here:
  13. Last night Organissimo in in Grand Rapids. Randy is hiding behind the guitarist.
  14. Disc 3 - symphonies 5 & 6.
  15. Symphony 7 and 8 this morning.
  16. Prestige followed that example in the '60s and '70s. Miles and Trane new releases forever. Smart.
  17. Worry not, you will never look like a lumberjack and I will never purchase from But Knot Four Me. They're writing thongs of love.....
  18. Instead of suspenders, I wear braces. Higher class you know.
  19. Uhuru was recorded at the same session as Coral Rock and Pitchin' Can at the Black Gipsy session. The Coral Rock group was Lester Bowie, Alan Shorter, Clifford Thornton, Bobby Few, Bob Reid and Muhammad Ali. Black Gipsy was Thornton, Noah Howard, Julio Finn, Dave Burrell, Leroy Jenkins, Earl Freeman, Sonny Murray and Chicago Beauchamp. I don't remember if all musicians play on all tracks.
  20. I caught Bream in recital, in a small hall circa 1963. While playing Bach, tears streamed down his face. I will never forget.
  21. My favorite Appalachian Spring - this made me play it, Thanks.
