  2. You can get a bit more in George Lewis' book. BTW, his name is Nordic.
  3. Musician, educator and friend Dick Wang has passed. His students included Roscoe Mitchell, Joseph Jarman, Anthony Braxton, Henry Threadgill, Ari Brown, Malachi Favors, etc, etc .
  4. Are the announcements in Belch of Phlegm?
  5. Ben Goldberg.
  6. forgot about that one
  7. I actually watched it as did my father. The series solidified his belief I was consorting with drug addicts. Partial evidence was provided by the "thanks" to me in the end titles. I will never forget the stink of this. edit to mention my father's attitude cost me dearly when "estate" came.
  8. We have designed new packages for Von Freeman's Serenade & Blues and Roscoe's LRG/The Maze/S II Examples. The mastering stays the same, we just ran out of paper. I can send pdfs of the new art to interested folks - just let me know. Contact nessarecords@charter.net .
  9. Fascinating set. Glad I grabbed one.
  10. Ives Concord by Kirkpatrick but I am listening to the cd reissue with about 20 minutes added of Ives playing.
  11. Finally passed on test pressings of Air Time. 2017 will be the 50th birthday of nessa records. Something like 30 hours of music in 50 years - yeah! Anyway, this will be one of our celebratory reissues - there will be some new music too.
  12. I think that impulse was always there - exhibit 1: Subtraction on Air Time.
  13. Has anyone mentioned the Walter Zuber Armstrongs on World Artists? Maybe I did.
  14. FWIW, the image at the start of this thread was taken by me in 1978 or 79 when I was doing a few sessions there.
  15. I will deny you that pleasure.
  16. yup 2
  17. I had the first issue with the silk screen "feeling" cover and later Leo gave me a new one with a slick cover, saying the sound had been improved. I haven't compared them, though I still have both. Lots of studio time needed to improve this material.
  18. yup
  19. Heading to Chicago for the Jazz Festival in the morning. Delivering a box of Ira Sullivan's cd to him at the Jazz Showcase and then on to catch the end of Carla Bley's version of the Liberation Orchestra. Later in the weekend, delivering a box of lps to Mars Williams - the artists are the best salesmen. Plan on catching old friends Alvin Fielder and Kidd Jordan at Constellation. It will be a busy weekend.
  20. Great set - 30 years ago I would have sold my left nut for the set. But today I have 95% of the music and another 20%. Damn.
  21. Some fun stuff trying to be serious, or the other way around.
