  1. Dennis posted this on FB a couple hours ago: We could use your business just about now. All of my music, including the new CD "In Quiet Waters" by Yells At Eels is always available by mail order (PayPal preferred) from http://dennisgonzalezx.blogspot.com
  2. Tom Evered posted this on Face Book this morning: Very sad news from New York. Two of my greatest friends, Bruce Lundvall and Bob Belden are in critical conditions in hospitals. Bruce has been battling Parkinsons for a few years. Recently he acquired a lung infection which has ravaged him and is making breathing almost impossible. At this moment his family is at his side at the hospital in New Jersey. He is struggling to stay with us. On Sunday musician/composer/raconteur Bob Belden suffered a massive heart attack at his apartment on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. By the time the medics arrived he had been without a pulse for almost 15 minutes. I visited him last night at Lenox Hill hospital, where I ran into Tim Hagans and his wife. Bob is on life support...breathing apparatus, etc. and is non-responsive. His sister and brother in law have flown up from South Carolina. I had no discussion with the family or the doctors so I can't speak for them or Bob's condition...but it looks very grim. These are dark days.
  3. I strongly disagree with this statement.
  4. I remember that record. Nice.
  5. My version lists track 6 as Aftermath the Fourth Movement / Children of the Fire.
  6. Let me clarify lest purchases be made in vain - it's the Bluebird CD of There Comes A Time that contains more music. Though IIRC it doesn't contain 'Aftermath of the 4th Movement..." which was on the Lp but if you want it on a cd you have to buy a strange hybrid from RCA called "Battle of the Bands: Charlie Mingus and Gil Evans". I think all the material is on this 10 track version I got from France - http://www.amazon.com/There-Comes-Time-Gil-Evans/dp/B000006YK5/ref=sr_1_3?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1431638437&sr=1-3&keywords=gil+evans+there+comes+a+time I now see this version is available from Japan - http://www.amazon.com/There-Comes-Time-Gil-Evans/dp/B0000563KG/ref=sr_1_4?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1431638437&sr=1-4&keywords=gil+evans+there+comes+a+time
  7. These are long time favorites: ◇ Benny Carter / Father di Fini Schons (UCCU-90142) ◇ Benny Carter / Addition-to-Father Definishonzu (UCCU-90143)
  8. I ordered a set of the complete Beethoven String Quartets that ended up in Sparks, Nev. I live in Illinois. A replacement set arrived soon after I complained. The guy in Sparks, Nev needed it more than you do. Hope he's a fan of the Suske Quartet. won"t matter, it is Sparks, Nevada.
  9. Thanks for that. He was a friend.

  11. Fascinating record. Got it and some label mates while in college. Still have this one:
  12. Joshua Abrams' Natural Information Society at Hallwalls in Buffalo on the 19th. Two nights later at the same venue I will hear Dave Rempis, Darren Johnson and Larry Ochs. Saxophonist/presenter Steve Baczkowski has a great series going. Baczkowski Dave Rempis (saxophones) Darren Johnston (trumpet) Larry Ochs (saxophones) - See more at: http://www.hallwalls.org/music/#sthash.2vPOiB8f.dpuf
  13. I believe the initial intent was audience participation - laughs, groans & shrieks. From my vantage point the "up tight" '50s killed that and things have moved on.
  14. We had that album. I still think about it sometimes. He's about to go onstage to open for Richie Havens. The crowd is chanting "Richie! Richie!" The guard looks at Brooks, who's in the wings. "Your name Richie?" "No." "They're gonna kill you." I haven't actually listened to it in years, but I remember that it had MANY great moments. Great comedy record. My favorite bit was "Rewriting the National Anthem". Saw him at a private event in Boston around '73. He killed.
  15. Hah! when I saw the image I thought "that came out on Capitol?" Maybe I thought it was Tennessee Ernie. :-)
  16. Sonny Still seems almost appropriate.
  17. Are we really searching for Note One, like the beginnings of AIDS.
  18. Damn. I was a friend and friend of his wife. Any info would be appreciated.
  19. I did see the Mobley group with Muhal at a south side church if I remember correctly.
