  1. National House of Pancakes - as told to me by Nils Winther.
  2. Just playing Nielsen's Symphonic Rhapsody, drifted off and then thought I was listening to Dvorak. Sorry if this is obvious to all but I just connected.
  3. No doubt the set will be amazing but...... In January I received a solicitation letter looking for "shareholders". A single "share" is $5000 with a promised return of $6000. The projected expenses were over $90,000. Good luck to all involved; musicians, producers, shareholders, customers. I do understand the difficulty in a project like this but I just don't..........................
  4. FWIW, the release of ncd-29 completes the remastered reissue of the material in the Art Ensemble 1967/68 box.
  5. Same here. Whats the difference between the older and newer artists? Just guessing, but the difference some hear between bop/hard-bop and neo-bop? The difference between the music when it was fresh and the music when it was recreated by astute students of it? I got into the music just as the neo-boppers came out in force and I had/have no problem listening to both, but ... Dan is undoubtedly correct about this.

  7. I did not see the show and didn't know it ever existed.
  8. Better they should do a "Complete Prestige" disc including both takes of Yesterdays.
  9. Isn't this an advertising gimmick started by Audi?
  10. Seems reasonable to me for one cd. If you order more, not so much.
  11. FWIW, the Teddy Wilson Mosaic set is 5 cds.
  12. Some of the set reissued on Black Lion vinyl. The solo material is very fine.
  13. Jewish folk don't have Ole and Lena jokes.
  14. G'bye Sherman. You provided a bunch of laughs at our house.
  15. Jimmy Heath is also on Hub Cap.
  16. Ladies and Gentlemen, an official, certified "hair splitter". Take a bow mister Speak.
  17. Gee, you think a kick in the ass is unnecessary?
  18. Nothing to look at folks, just move along.
  19. While growing up I saw Scott once a week on tv directing the band on Your Hit Parade along with his wife Dorothy Collins, Snooky Lanson, Russell Arms and Gisele MacKenzie. Seems not so long ago. The tv version ran from 1950 (my age 6) through 1959 (age 15). Hard to shake stuff like that.
  20. Indeed.
  21. Might check with the police in Aurora, CO. I hear they confiscated a bunch of cartridges.
  22. My guess would be radio. Radio in the olden days was really interesting, as was early tv.
  23. You are one in a million.
