  1. Those "injection molded" lps were made of a very brittle plastic called styrene.
  2. It says "complete studio albums" - wonder what they do the fake Newport tracks and "Bal Masque"? Now they have a chance to correct "Such Sweet Thunder" too.
  3. I saw this group (with Monty Budwig) on bass in Des Moines in the fall of '62. It was a concert in the garden of a museum. After the concert I approached Candoli and mentioned I had recently been a victim of crime and my copy of "Little Band, Big Jazz" was stolen. He said he had a box of them back at the hotel and I should stop by in an hour and he would give me one. He and Russ Freeman came down to the lobby, gave me a record and sat down for a chat. It lasted for about half an hour and really left a good impression with an 18 year old freshman. Later in my life I had opportunities to mention this to each of them but they didn't remember. I did.
  4. Mother Hubbard Fatha Hines Hines, Hines and Dad
  5. Competitors have ruined all sport for me. I don't believe anyone.
  6. Couldn't this be considered "field research"?
  7. And how many of my potential customers will have the ability to listen to these files on something more sophisticated than their computer nomatter the quality of the digital files? What are the economics of such a deal? Have you ever done this stuff or do you just read about it?
  8. He gave me pleasure and inspiration in my youth. Thanks.
  9. Previously potential customers could listen to sound samples of my cds and make a decision. Now, since I do not have mp3 files for sale on Amazon, they will not provide the sound samples of my cds. Is that clear enough? This potentially limits my sales unless I (SURPRISE) provide downloads of mp3s on their site. Under this policy they don't need employees to unload, pack and ship - they just need the software to deliver an inferior product.
  10. I'm curious if you read an objection from me or if this was imagined. My second query would be if you didn't learn anything from the thread.
  11. The label started as a lame imitation "new age" concern in the early '80s. It grew some to escape the beginning. I was so turned off by the beginnings I didn't follow. Sorry to see any label die.
  12. Thanks for the report. I hate this about a dozen ways.
  13. In my world, nothing is hipper than Szigeti. :tup :tup (Do you know his Beethoven sonatas with Arrau? Bad sound, but the music ... ! Waiting for the Bartók/Szigeti disc right now, I bet it's amazing, too!) u are in for a treat.
  14. In my world, nothing is hipper than Szigeti. 20th and 21st Century children working with ancient instruments, or reproductions lose music as they search for technique.
  15. Amazon has announced that “we no longer support audio samples for product unless we have an equivalent MP3 album in our digital catalog. If you wish to have sound samples displayed for your title you will need to add an equivalent MP3 offer to our catalog."
  16. 1-0QA+19, Duet, Colors In Thirty-Third, Family Talk, Song For All Muhal was at the top of my list (with Julius) so I'm overjoyed I was afraid they wouldn't do a full Abrams set - looks like these are mostly large group/orchestra sessions Sightsong with Malachi is missing as is Duets and Solos but I figured that would be included in a Mitchell box.
  17. The Muhal is incomplete. I can think of 5 missing titles off the top of my head.
  18. Not sure this will help but here is a note from Cuscuna that was stuck inside my box. Yes, I got a promo.
  19. The two RCAs are the same recordings. I suggest the Mercury because of its reputation, not personal experience.
  20. I attended the recording of For Trio.
  21. didn't know this reissue existed.
