  2. Mono out of phase???!!!
  3. I am the guy in the back - the pants were beige. The guy in the red shirt is George Favors, Malachi's brother. The guy next to him was the guy who drove the truck of instruments from the Creative Music Studio. Sadly I don't remember his name.
  4. I understand. It just seemed gratuitous.
  5. Thanks. Always good to chalk up those non-sales.
  6. What's his name?
  7. Yup. Did anybody look here? Damn near everybody looked there!
  8. Many thanks. The clip with Lee is priceless.
  9. If you have the Bomba version of the Freeman, you are probably cool. The mix is the same and I'm not sure the new mastering is worth the expense. Am I a salesman or what?!
  10. In the mid '70s the Bethlehem catalog was owned by Leiber and Stoller. They were buying up music publishing and the rights to the Bethlehem catalog came with one of the deals. They had no interest in the catalog and for a minute I was negotiating to buy the Nichols master. Multiple searches were made for the tapes at the time with no results. While all this was going on, the entire catalog was purchased by the Cayre brothers, aka Salsoul Records.
  11. Now in the hopper. Scheduled for October 18 release but we should have copies in about a month. Never released before! Before There Was "Sound", the landmark debut album for Chicago's AACM recorded by Roscoe Mitchell for Delmark in the fall of 1966, there was a changing roster of Mitchell ensembles. The Mitchell Quartet recorded the present sessions approximately a year before "Sound" - no one remembers the exact date, only that it was probably late summer - early fall. Whatever the exact date, this album presents the earliest recordings available of the work of the AACM, probably taped shortly after the first meeting of the organization in May 1965. Members of the quartet include Fred Berry - trumpet, Malachi Favors - bass and Alvin Fielder - drums. Compositions include 5 Mitchell originals and one each by Berry and Favors. Earl Lavon Freeman, recipient of the NEA Jazz Master award for 2012, recorded this music during a marathon session in 1975. That amazing session also yielded the date called "Serenade & Blues". Von told historian Terry Martin "Now the thing we did with Chuck to me was a miracle because he just let me do it my way and I have never been in the studio and seen a man so relaxed...and I'm generally a very relaxed man. I must have been the most nervous man in there." This reissue adds "Boomerang", a Freeman composition to the original LP release.
  12. Tapes have been searched for to no avail.
  13. Ms White.
  14. Mr Shad is an intreresting producer. He made some fine Mainstream sessions. AKAIK, none of them are masterpieces. I welcome corrections - and I do know about Hadley's recordings.
  15. WHATEVER! Dave Lambert was a musical MoFo!
  16. Just Dandy!
  17. If you have to decide if you are excited u ain't.
  18. Geez, help the lady Chris!
  19. I also wish it isn't true.
  20. Not entirely true. You can search out the legal papers online. They "have him" for at least 3 uploads to the Dreamboard site.
  21. For my taste, Om is crap and Transition is wonderful.
  22. Don't have the time right now - trying to finish all the files on 2 new releases before we leave town to witness the birth of our first grandchild.
