You can't imagine how upset I am by this news.

I am suspicious enough of a guy calling himself Rahsaan to leave him alone. Better he be Fred.

He's a bright guy but that world has died and he's expected to be the next world. I wish him well and hope he makes some bucks.

Realm was a CBS label. Had some other reissues in the label - Rex Stewart, Don Redman, etc.

Searching around a bit I found his mugshot. He was arrested a few months ago and one source says he has been extradited to Louisiana!

I have had exchanges with Bill Barton since the '70s - mail, phone, online discussion groups, facebook and email. This is not easy.

I state the facts here and that's it. I do send promo copies to a few folks but that is it. I don't want my issues tainted with the BS of press releases. All the labels you don't get emails from do likewise.

I'd like to hear about this stuff without the damned pr material. That stuff causes me to ignore recordings I might like.

I always found it interesting Bill Russell (American Music) and Ross Russell (Dial) burst on the recorded music scene around the same time. This brought a trad/modern fight fostered by the music press but these 2 fellows did right by a whole bunch of folks. I had the pleasure of a phone calls and letters with Ross but had minimal contact with Bill. Thanks - you were inspirations.

I have had this material on the Riverside 10" and 12" lps, Swaggie lps, Classics, Timeless, Music Memoria and Neatwork cds. Now I can dump my cdr compilation for this release.
