  1. That's only true if the costs were cross collateralized. Not sure that would have been the case.
  2. If he did this,he gave the artist's wishes priority. Not a bad thing.
  3. I asked Horace about this material 20+ years ago and he said it didn't work and he didn't want the public to hear it. I would suggest the sounds of a '63 date would be very different from the late BN material.
  4. If memory serves, they did 1 or 2 takes each of Autumn Leaves and Early Morning Stroll. It was done at the end of a trio session.
  5. I misread your post. Sorry.
  6. I did not need to see that.
  7. She died 11 years ago.
  8. An amazing brain was responsible for the last post.
  9. Whatever the politics or cause of the daughter's death - he seemed to be a genuinely nice man with pleasure derived by many. Pretty good obit in my book.
  10. Closing time clouds vision and rationality.
  11. Guess that's why we all clicked on it.
  12. Alvin was in hospice care but is now home and he says he's back to "where I was"! None of his friends or family expected him to live. He said he was taking a medication and every possible side effect happened at once and his entire system started to shut down. Roscoe even mentioned a reunion/record release party with Alvin in the band. Regarding Alvin's "history of drums", I spent a long time on the phone with him this week and he was singing different player's drum patterns. He made special mention of J. C. Heard's patterns on Night in Tunisia and sang different drummer's adaptations of J. C.'s work. He's a wonderful resource.
  13. Interested parties should read Clifford's interview with Alvin at AAJ.
  14. Hope the day is rewarding. Happy Birthday!
  15. Post-Ornette is a good way to describe it.
  16. Me too. Roscoe, Alvin and I are contacting everyone we can think of for photos.
  17. Did you feel the earth move?
  18. up - anyone? I think I paid $15 for a 1st stereo Liberty, but that was a few years ago. Not a bad date. I'd say no.
  19. I know you weren't. Just wanted to plug the band for what it did.
  20. The Miller "civilian" organization was a great dance band. No reason to dis them.
  21. You always could.
