  1. I'm sure he understands "theft" in many languages.

    Mal Waldron

Mal was a warm person. I worked with him a couple of times. I'll never forget his set at the Chicago festival with Steve Lacy. I hope Lazaro drops in and speaks of his exchanges with Mal.
  3. I like his recordings too, BUT he's never been "shockingly humble" unless that stance would enhance his reputation. Not a bad stance for a neglected artist.
  4. Not really, but they are cute.
  5. Concerning Hamp and Getz, never had the Norgran but had a copy of Verve 8128 and it was white. Obviously a 3 color job printed on white paper.
  6. Beautiful photos and prints. Thanks.
  7. Spent an hour with her in a Chicago hotel bar. She was charming.
  8. Saw him a few times in Chicago with an organ group. I'm sure Larry did too.
  9. At least not a big change.
  10. Eddie Bonnemere Eddie Edwards Edward Scissorhands
  11. Muggsy Spanier on Commodore, with Pee Wee (among others) - Commodore (Columbia Special Products lp).
  12. Thanks, and please keep us informed.
  13. I've known John since 1966. He's stayed at my house. I will miss him.
  14. Rose Marie could break your arm.
  15. I think that is crap and I can can still enjoy the music (with another patina added for my consideration). At this point the only "redemption" available is from/for the daughter. YMMV.
  16. Disc 12 from Mosaic's Complete Commodores, Vol 1 - Condon's A Good Man Is Hard To Find.
  17. An old friend, later not friend, told me of a sexual encounter with Kenton about 45 years ago. I thought it was "bravado" at the time. Not now.
  18. In high school and college everyone was reading it. I tried but never finished it. My loss I guess.
  19. I thought this was a comparison of Arnie Caplin's bootleg label and Les Koenig's non-bootleg outfit. My first dozen "jazz" lps (in the late '50s) included an Ellington, Soul Trane, Cookin', Armstrong's Hot 5 and a record by Les and Larry Elgart. Make of that what you will. My next Coltrane was Africa Brass and things moved on.
  20. Not my experience.
