Nothing I did. Good news though.
As I understand it, Amazon claims the sales figures are adjusted every few hours according to purchases. I have seen the "Vonski" number as low a 9000 but my shipments have not been "overwhelming" - not even "whelming".
Bought the Atlas lp when issued. Bought the cd when issued. Owned the 1954 duo on Contemporary for over 40 years - that's why I bought the Atlas lp. Good stuff.
To sum up, the Schapp version is needlessly noisy. Thanks for the extra material and shame for the end result. YMMV.
I don't care enough about the event to search a better version.
We should all thank Albert Marx.
Don't know what you mean by "numbered issue". It was an lp bought in Iowa City in 1964/5. The UA issues I mentioned were all in the UAJ series, with the black/white covers.
Wild recorded a wonderful set of Rachmaninoff concertos with Horenstein and the Royal Philharmonic. Available on Chandos (cheaper set) and on Chesky with better sound.
I've enjoyed these recordings since 1968. My Readers Digest lp set is supreme!
I think McCoy was struggling to keep up at the time and absorbed the message after the fact. He never damages anything but the "later McCoy" would have coped differently.
Other labels include Vox, United Artists and ESP. My early copy of Ayler's Spiritual Unity had a deep groove on one side, making the info on the earlier posted site wrong.
