  1. I had big problems with Jazz Loft in the past. I just won't go into it here.
  2. Great to have you return. Many thoughts about you in the interim.
  3. Of the Black Saint Muhals, the only other one I'm familiar with is Sightsong. All I can say is "DUH"!
  4. Similar but much smaller. If I dig out the contracts for the Chicago Jazz Festival when I was chairman my list would be extended but.... I envy Chris' organization. It would take a year for me to sort my stuff.
  5. In fact, down to $59.14 now. Close to where I might go for it. And I'll probably only ever play the thing once, but it's the only Miles box I don't own. The curse of the collector! $62.12 including shipping.
  6. Have not listened for about 30 years. Then I decided he was a silly mockingbird. I could be wrong but don't want to spend the time/energy to sort it our. YMMV.
  7. All the Muhal's are worthy. I wish I had all of them.
  8. Not really. I've had sessions where some sideman missed a change and stopped everything. I have done sessions with 10 takes to "get the feel".
  9. Thanks for taking these chances.
  10. They came a decade later and were from a different culture.
  11. I see lots of delightful snacks going away as a result of this thread.
  12. I thought this was inbred in you folks.
  13. Not sure the NSA should allow aardvarks to gather in groups large enough to form bands, let alone orchestras.
  14. The futures speculators have dropped out an the developing nations have stalled. It will go up again.
  15. We won't EVEN go there...... I do all the time.
  16. In 1968 a charming black lady walked into the JRM and asked me for Mash Kay Nido by Dittzy Gallepsie.
  17. If you have excellent spine and thrust, crushed stones are no problem.
  18. That was my distribution company. I closed it down a few years ago. Same phone number now listed under Nessa Records.
  19. I thought Bork was a female singer.
  20. "Early black showbiz" and the female blues/vaudeville acts are different than the country singers and some preachers. The choices the papers made of who to cover were dictated by urban tastes formed to some extent by an artificial marketing campaign. Very little documentation is not "stained" by the commerce of the time.
