  1. I echo most of Brad's post with a wish the MFin' Imus stayed on the air, at the same stations to "pay the price" every day for as long as he lives. I will miss the MSNBC show 5 days a week.
  2. Thanks. I was perplexed about the writing in my genes. This went away as soon as I put the sucka's on.
  3. From behind.
  4. Indeed. She is an interesting figure. I'm glad she lived and I'm glad I met her.
  5. Recently a member asked if I had any pictures from the "Maze" session and I realized I should have used the lp photo for the cd issue. Then George Lewis contacted me about reproducing the shot in his history of the AACM. George wanted a high quality scan and I ultimately contacted Mark Sheldon for advise on a scanner. My new scanner arrived Monday and I have been learning to use the device. Anyway, here is a reduced version of the scan. Not sure how the formatting screw-up happened, but you get the idea. More importantly I neglected to say Ann took the pic.
  6. I'm sure your confusion has deeper roots than that memory.
  7. Also recommended is Budd Johnson's Ya! Ya! recorded at the same sessions.
  8. He is outstanding on Hal Singer's Blue Stompin' and Coleman Hawkins' Hawk Eyes. Both are from 1959.
  9. The "fiasco" was the politics/egos/bs involved in the delays of issue. Probably to long and involve to get into here. Enough to say Bob Belden and the label were "abused" by the "estate".
  10. Is Lee Konita a "Spanish" singer? How did she make a recording with Bill Evans?
  11. Jingles singer in Chicago for about 25 years. Married to pianist Bradley Parker Sparrow. They own a recording studio and put a bunch of stuff out on their own label and studio called Southport. Google should turn up a bunch of stuff.
  12. Put another nickel in, in the nickelodeon All I want is having you and music, music, music! I'd do anything for you, anything you'd want me to All I want is kissing you and music, music, music! Closer, my dear come closer The nicest part of any melody Is when you're dancing close to me Put another nickel in, in the nickelodeon All I want is loving you and music, music, music! 13. Red Label. Can't really afford Black.
  14. Ejazzlines told me via E-mail that they got 6 orders for that one copy of Hank Mobley Quartet in about 30 seconds. I missed it too. So far, I've only missed two titles. They are pretty quick to update their on-line inventory, just not immediate. It's too bad they can't make the inventory live. There's nothing worse than sitting back and thinking you got your order in to get that title you wanted, only to find out it was already bought. Drives me crazy. Is that the March 27, 1955 quartet session that was released on CJ28-5128 you're talking about? A great CD! I managed to find a copy last year. It's a McMaster, by the way. The session's on the Mobley Mosaic, of course. Yes, I have a 10" lp and the Mosaic (with extras) but wanted the single cd so I could "dump" the box.
  15. Good for Ornette for $$ but of no consequence otherwise. He can "blow their fucking minds" and what good are they then? Lots of "beautiful things" of no real importance.
  16. You must eat at a steady, quick beat. I prefer savoring my meal.
  17. Chops, loud, many good ideas and sometimes overbearing.
  18. Got 5 of the 6 I ordered. Hank Mobley Quartet was not shipped and that was the main reason for the order.
  19. Mr Pee Wee Russell.
  20. Peter Gunn Peter Rabbit Bernadette Peters Brock Peters Brock Nessa Chuck Nessa
  21. It's pictured above.
  22. Guess we can all take the queen's advise and eat cake.
  23. And Dick Dale was...... What was the "talent" he had to offer? I'm really tired of stupid people crying about stupid mistakes. The entire record company/"artist" paradigm is over already. Gotta find new devils.
  24. CHECK THIS OUT Flo and Eddie were talented IDIOTS!
