  1. Don't wanna burst any bubbles but I'd say "a fraction of a generation". Numbers can be argued and really don't mean shit.
  2. Maureen Sickler (Don's wife) has been doing Rudy's "prep work" for a number of years.
  3. Geez, if I'd known Randy wasn't playing I'd have made the gig. Tim's a terrific drummer and I do wish I'd been there.
  4. I probably picked this up before you were born - no cds then.
  5. Hey Roos, if you examine Jim's link, it tells us her name.
  6. Never paid much attention to Dylan so I won't enter the discussion beyond saying I saw him 3 times. In 1966 I was on a northbound Clark St bus (Chicago) with him and Albert Grossman. I thought he was withdrawn and pretentious. I was leading them to some club and dropped them there. Next I saw him in concert with the Band circa 1974 in Boston and remember it as a terrific public performance. About 5 years (?) later I was at a day long taping of a PBS tribute to John Hammond. Most musicians (Basie, Goodman, Sonny Terry, George Benson, etc) watched the development of the show. Dylan spend about 12 hours in the dressing room. This did not impress me but his set was fine.
  7. It seems he's making a post disaster film. Anyone have any info? Thanks.
  8. Probably a reissue of: Terumasa Hino (tp) Eddie Daniels (ts,cl) Masabumi Kikuchi (p) Kunimitsu Inaba (b) Motohiko Hino (d) Tokyo, August 4, 1968 The strut Takt (Jap)XMS10005 Thirsty soul - This is new - Whistle moment - Giant steps - Why did I choose you -
  9. I would really like to meet that woman. She must be an interesting personality.
  10. Yes, twice.
  11. Rudy does the work.
  12. Knowing Paul a bit, I'd say there is potential for 15 or 16 tomes.
  13. relax
  14. IIRC, the premise of the 3 disc set was all the master takes. Unfortunately they screwed up and included a number of alternates.
  15. First post is to sell, not discuss music. First post is to sell/trade $3 Concord close outs. Just thought that was funny.
  16. I bought that sucker the minute it was issued. Loved the show, loved the show. Ah, silly youth.
  17. Sorry if I missed my first version (intitial imprints are important), the Diz/Bird performance at Carnegie in 1947. I had it on a Roost lp then and a BN/Roost cd now.

    Hal Russell

I still have a few copies of that cassette and a copy if the cd. Nice date. Mars pushed the band in a more rock oriented direction after his work with the Waitresses and Psychedelic Furs.
  19. I'm sure Big Al already knew this.
  20. Geez, no mention of this female vocalist with trio:
  21. http://www.joefonda.digitalspace.net/ Not sure if this has been noted before but thought it deserved some attention.
  22. I agree with Ed's assessment of this session but have to think there is/was more material recorded at the time.
  23. I know you are a sucker for compilations but it's best to hear Harry's songs in proper sequence.
