  1. Note to Kevin: If you'd paid attention, Blackburn is on the Carmell Jones "Select". He's also on the Gerald Wilson set (as is Freddie Hill).
  2. Since they are "lurking" at this time, I choose to ignore .:.impossible, Epithet, Guy, kenny weir, TroyK.
  3. Don't have a clue, but would guess you don't know Freddie Hill either.
  4. Nice bunch.
  5. Don is a saxophonist who wrote the first positive reviews of Shepp, Dixon. etc in DownBeat in the early '60s. He continued there for a few years. An AllMusic search should turn up something. I certainly understand loosing patience with the ICP folks. I don't think he's the kind of listener to be "predisposed to not liking" anything.
  6. Since these were "part works" and came with informative "magazine" notes. Do you include these or just the discs? I have about 40 of these and they are reasonably well done, but JRT did not remaster all of them and the rest are fine too.
  7. In a conversation with Dan Morganstern I foolishly confused Frank Rosolino and Frank Rehak.
  8. Heckman is one of the few published music critics with credentials as a playing musician.
  9. No wonder you post that silly crap in the political thread.
  10. He might have all the "clues" and not like them.
  11. Heard Morris a few times with Blakey and once with Bill Hardman at Slugs.
  12. It is clearly audible on the current cd version.
  13. Great friggin' sob story....................Just send me that check.
  14. For "this band" I'm all over the Prestige sides. 'Bout time they were a "set".
  15. From my perspective on M Krystal (after 20+ years listening), he's a very bright guy and a "more than competent" saxophonist. That's about as far as I'd take it.
  16. Warner has been distributing Ryco and associated labels for a few years.
  17. OK. Hello Mr Cynical.
  18. Nah, the musicians need to be scared to death - afraid of messing up, missing a change, turning the time around and just not having an idea. Then you might get a great recording IF you have great MUSIC in you.
  19. You can listen to the '50s stuff while scraping the bugs off your teeth.
  20. COP-OUT!
