  1. No sales for these suckers. That's what's going on.
  2. Yourmusic.com has this set for just under $24, in case anyone wants to pick it up before it goes OOP. If it matters, my guess is that the Yourmusic.com version is not packaged in the format with the CD sleeves and booklet bound into a small hardcover like a book (as the Pacific Jazz Gerry Mulligan Quartet recordings were as well). When I got this set from BMG several years ago, the CDs were in a "fat boy" 4-cd jewel case with the jewel case and a separate booklet inserted into a cardboard slipcase. I got my "dandy" booklet bound into etc, as you describe it, from BMG. I suggest the same is available from Yourmusic.
  3. Powell just "shifted" his attention to "classical" composition.
  4. Think I got 'em all 'cept for the bass player. I'll 'fess up later. Honest. This could be fun - pretty amazing band.
  5. By 1966 the master tapes would be multitrack so the mono pressings would be "fold downs". It is extremely unlikely any company would run a mono machine in this era.
  6. The packaging of the Clifford Brown set has to be manufactured in large quantities to make the unit cost "livable". They undoubtedly ran out of them.
  7. Nothing I've encountered by this band lived up to the billing. In fact I've dumped everything.
  8. Sad example of current attitudes towards intellectual property.
  9. I received an email directed from another jazz bb. The guy asked about my AE set and said I could respond to his Yahoo account. The message also included the address he posted from. I sent a message to the Yahoo account and received this message: ----- The following addresses had permanent fatal errors ----- <xxxxx@yahoo.com> (reason: 553 VS10-RT Possible forgery or deactivated due to abuse (#5.1.1) 209.225.28.130) Then I sent a message to the address posted from and received this: ----- The following addresses had permanent fatal errors ----- <xxxxx@prestigemed.com> (reason: 550 Requested action not taken: mailbox unavailable) Finally I responded though the jazz bb email system. What do you think?
  10. Bix, Eddie Costa, Eddie Lang, Bird, Herbie Nichols, etc.
  11. Having everything elswhere, I was waiting for comments on the mastering. Great music however you get it.
  12. Geez, a thread XXX posts long titled "What an asshole..." and is isn't about me!
  13. If I understand correctly, this is a thread complaining about the "unavailability" of stuff the complainer already had (at least in part). Did I miss something?

  15. Really specialized question Al. You want folks to find one title in a store's database after you failed? I understand the problem and have encountered it myself, but always had enough "wants" to "fill the cart". I think it might be time to move on and buy that sucker somewhere else.
  16. Two bits to relate: I was with Ira Gitler in a restaurant when Roy walked in. Ira shouted out "Hag nes" and Roy cracked up. They explained a club in NY misspelled his name on the marquee once. JR Monterose said he and Roy used to shop for threads in the "kids" section of Macy's. What a treasure Roy Haynes is and what a preasure to have him among us.
  17. Gettin' close to the big five oh.
  18. Surely to avoid irony this needs to be followed by a smiley of some sort ? Perhaps one of these : Ars gratia artis..... and I want to avoid irony because?
  19. It would seem to be a coupling of the 3 OJC early '50s Stitt stuff. Worthwhile but a dubious commercial enterprise.
  20. Connie will drink ANY beer.
  21. I'll stick with my Parlophones.
  22. Bunched panties work for me.
