  1. He seems to have cool hair.
  2. Was Randy singing "My Way"?
  3. Looks like Jim found sumphin' funky on his keyboard.
  4. I think they are just trying to stay in business like a bunch of us.
  5. It must be a grove by now.
  6. I rarely buy anything on Amazon unless it is from a "marketplace" merchant (or whatever they call it) 'cause the prices are too high. Their site is a good resource though.
  7. Used overdubbing on a couple of my projects. Ira Sullivan dueted with himself on his project and multi-instrumentalist Brian Sandstrom added a guitar solo (on top of his bass playing) on the Hal Russell "Generation" date. Brian actually added the part more than a year after the fact.
  8. IIRC, Bradford told me the photo was taken at a rehearsal, not a recording session.
  9. The America lp was reissued on a Musidisc cd in 1993.
  10. Outstanding recording. I had it for 20 years but lost it in my vinyl "fire sale". Have not replaced any of the Tatum Verve/Pablo recordings on cd yet, but they are a priority. This record was the last of the group I acquired, but it didn't let me down. Aces all around. Nice choice. Sorry I don't have it here to respond in detail.
  11. I know a few (well known) folks living there "back when". Ricky Ford even named a record for the place.
  12. You our correct, sir.
  13. I have Very Cool on a 24 bit Japanese Verve cd (UCCU-5172) and a battered lp (MGV-8209). It's a dandy.

Who cares? I do. Clem is great for cleansing the palate and getting back to basics (ie: reality) once in a while. Other times it's just BS but he keeps thinkers on their toes. Clem's good folks.
  15. Anyone mentioned the Hot 5s yet?
  16. And the list of further Giddens productions are?
  17. Bought it as a college freshman in 1962. Seems like an old friend. No better recommendation from me. AND the sound is better than the Atlantics
  18. Money on the way with two caveats: Gotta pay for Bush's war first and then I gotta get a big check from Bob Koester. Both are promised. As I reflect on the above, I need Bob's money before anything happens.

Geez, I finally succumbed to the thread title, was ready to post a "smart ass" response, then read the damn thread. I'm outclassed.
  20. 30 or so years ago when Michael Cuscuna was first exploring the BN vaults he told me Alfred Lion was "scissors happy". Made me feel better since I edited the first date I ever produced in 1966 - Roscoe Mitchell's "Sound".
  21. Hey Dan, even I noticed and enquired in a roundabout way.
  22. Hey Skid. How things in LA?
