  1. So, make something better. I'm sure we'd all follow.
  2. I was in the midst of preparing a brilliant message about the future of music and the music business. I was going to post it on this forum, but since you seem to deny me the access, FY!
  3. So now the Aggies are the Bulldogs?
  4. This was from late July 1970. Dexter was in Chicago to play with Jug and Byas for a Joe Segal event. The Gordon/Ammons portions were recorded for Prestige. I helped with the sessions. I was not involved with the TV shows made that week and was not in the studio.
  5. I was referring to the quote above in my previous post. Like Nate, I have Maelstrom on an Inner City LP. I always assumed the lousy sound was because of the sources of the original recordings: private tapes, radio broadcasts, etc. Never heard the Inner City but don't think it would sound much different than the EastWind original, which I do have.
  6. Just to be clear, nothing on "Descent into the Maelstrom" was issued on Atlantic or Mosaic.
  7. Actually he got his mug on a couple, but he had a facsimile of his sig (Looked like Crud Taylor to me) on most of his jobs. Bob Thiele did get his pic used a bunch of times but he "interfered" far less than his "position in the business" could dictate. Late in his career, with his own labels, he crossed the line.
  8. Ah, an absolutist.
  9. I guess we can't look forward to any more threads demanding that the Gigolo be reissued. Forgive me for asking, but it's been out on Japanese RVG for over 3 years in fantastic sound, why on earth would anyone moan for 3 years just to avoid paying a few bucks more for the import, especially such a great record? I've been digging this RVG for years now. It sure has been worth the paltry few bucks more for those years of enjoying it! AND I have it as a US issue for many years. I also had the lp, now long gone.
  10. Pete is a creep beyond description. Do that mean anything?
  11. Please don't misunderstand me. I think producers get too little credit for great records BUT I do believe some/many overstep the boundries of "good taste"/"musical quality". Bob Shad should have had his face all over a bunch of Mercury lps. On the other hand, I think he'd have been better served if he'd left his name off some later jobs.
  12. I contacted Mosaic a couple years ago suggesting a cross-label Hutcherson/Land set, with the Hutcherson Blue Notes and the Land Cadet and Mainstream albums. They told me at the time they were actually working on the licensing for just such a set, but I've never heard any more on it. Since then the major labels have become much more proprietry. From now on you can only look for packages from one source. If this wasn't true, the Oliver Nelson UA material would be on the Nelson set. Onward to another Mosaic possibility: Now that Sony and BMG are "connected" MC should have little problem doing a Braxton/Arista set if he really wants to do it.
  13. Laz, can't believe you went for the Feather disc. My opinion of her almost got me banned from AAJ - she's an advertiser you know.
  14. I lost interest quickly. The "producer oriented" sessions from the late '60s onward (by no means limited to DA) give me the heebie jeebies. I (maybe unfairly) consider these projects ego trips by producers thinking they are way smarter than the "leaders".
  15. Woody Shaw In the Beginning.
  16. Saw McCoy's quartet with Gravatt, Herbie Lewis and Byard Lancaster in a bar in Madison, WI in the early '70s. The band was takin' no prisoners! Just behind McCoy, Cecil Taylor was jumping up and down, dancing his heart out. That band should have been recorded live for about a week.
  17. I already did, Chuck, back in my first post on this thread. http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php...ndpost&p=454996 Oops.
  18. Do these folks take the same approach to sex?
  19. So you sleep in the garage?
  20. I have all this stuff elsewhere. If you don't have it, get it!
  21. Anyone know where Weizy was during this incident?
  22. Your savings should be spent on Organissimo cds, Organissimo site contributions, Nessa cds and Quartet Out cds. Then you can check out the LOC and other government sites.
  23. I'll drink to that................and welcome back you "clipper", you!
  24. It would be interesting to check out who owns the publishing on the different versions. I'm too lazy to do it now but could EMI own the "other" version?
