Yes. I have memories of a band (I think of them as the white losers band) with Lin, (sometimes) Bobby Roberts, Carl Leukaufe and Jack Noren.
Noren had a joyous way of outshining everyone.
I knew Lin a bit. He was a "nut case". He was his own worst enemy. Bob Koester was an angel for him and issued a bunch of cds. Bob will ultimately be responsible for any reputation Linn will have.
Linn claimed to have made a date for Riverside (aborted and never completed) with KD on trumpet. I've always wondered if this really happened and if any tapes survive.
I have enjoyed (not an adequate word) for over 45 years. My favorite discs are the Black Lions. These seem to capture what I "love" about his playing. All 4 cds are a great portrait of him as an "artist".
I have had more than a few personal experiences with him and think everything posted above applies to him. This life and art ain't easy.
Thanks DG.
BMG does not require a monthly purchase
Since I currently have 22 discs in my queue it certainly ain't a problem for me. $5.99 a month - that's the ticket.
Being able to pay for the CDs AFTER you've received them, as opposed to before you receive them. Since I don't buy as much music as I used to, I can wait until a good sale like the "5.99 & free shipping at 5 discs" deal. Helps keep my budget in check.
Since they are charged to my AmEx account, I pay for them later than I paid for my BMG shipments.
We loved it.
The kid on the other hand, he walked around with a three foot long face and his headphones on.
It appears either we, and, or Manhattan is not cool enough for him.
He is wrong on both counts.
We've got rain at the moment.
Kill the kid and have a life.
I hope my post doesn't make this a target of the feds for child abuse.
Maybe this should be moved to the political dept.
Yup! All really interesting stuff. Russ Freeman was one of the first "real" musicians I met. The Fischers were issued at a time I was "ready to go there", if you know what I mean. I do have to admit when I met Clare he "set me straight"! In spite of the stupid crap he spewed, I still like these dates a bunch.
More information, please...
Private lp made of a concert at Grinnell College on Jan. 10, 1957. Grinnell student Herbie Hancock is listed as one of the folks involved in a jam session the following day.
If they are only a management company, what to they keep in the "warehouse facilities" listed on their website? Do they really have so much management they need a warehouse? I wanna meet these guys.
Couldn't this all be settled by listening to the dang music? Bertrand, it is your question and you have the avenue to solution in front of you.
We expect a report.
