  1. The Lunceford Mosaic was released in 2011.
  2. They do. They're regular CDs.
  3. Not if you're in the United States.
  4. They can be pre-ordered from ImportCDs at $21.50 each (current price): http://www.importcds.com/Search/Results?type=200&mt=2&pt=2&lbl=audio+wave I posted this because as far as I can see they're the cheapest around.
  5. http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/music/posts/la-et-ms-phil-everly-of-the-everly-brothers-dies-at-74-20140103,0,2091176.story#axzz2pOJszv00
  6. I guess it was a misunderstanding then."Inactive" does not mean "gone". A simple click could have confirmed that. I guess the "has come to nothing" phrasing was what bothered me. There was quite a bit of work that went into those. Doesn't matter! Whatever.
  7. I agree, this project has come to nothing. Pity, it looked promising. Why to nothing? That's a very strange comment (that I didn't see before). a) I have 54 discographies of out-of-print Mosaic boxed sets and Selects online, b) they have been online without interruption (I just didn't add any for quite a while), c) and continue to be available? For free. I absolutely agree that the thread does not have to be pinned, but ... ? P.S.: They now reside on deus62.com but have always been available on the other site linked to (and still are, but are redirected to the new site). My comment was not so strange, in view of the first post in this thread: (I was still a moderator at the time) and also your posts there. My assumption that the project had died was justified in my view, the more so since you didn't reply to my e-mail.
  8. I've never been a fan of Coltrane's Prestige work, but I must admit that hearing it again after so many years on those Prestige boxes I like it better than "on its own", i.e. than on the individual albums way back when.
  9. Someone should grab the Dave Bailey, it's excellent.
  10. I've seen that listing on Amazon Italy, it's indeed the lowest price I could find, but still pretty steep. The Fleisher Mozart Concerto No.25 is included, but as far as I could see not his Beethoven and Brahms concerti. Tracklisting: http://www.goodwinshighend.com/music/classical/Szell/George%20Szell%2049%20CD%20Box%20Set.htm
  11. Many of those RCA/Bluebirds and the GRP Decca series suffer from noise reduction. Some people don't mind, but those CDs sound too suffocated to my taste.
  12. If not, the person in question won't know - although some believe they will. All the best for 2014 to all.
  13. Thanks, but I'm in the Netherlands and with current USPS overseas rates ordering anything from the United States is a no-no for me, even with the dollar/euro exchange rate as it stands. That's very nice for you, but it's not what I asked
  14. Sony Korea released this massive 49CD box some time ago and it looks mighty tempting, but it costs an arm and a leg - and a few organs as well. Does anybody know if there are any plans to release it outside Korea - hopefully also in Europe - at a more moderate price? Szell is one of my favourite conductors.
  15. Ah, one of those non-box non-booklet copies that fell off the back of a truck. Didn't know they were still selling those.
  16. I agree with that 100%, Mr. Russell. It's one of the reasons why I've stuck with mid-fi rigs throughout the years. I just don't believe in spending more than $5K on one. To me, the returns you get from $10,000 rig over one that is $5,000 simply doesn't justify the extra dollars. Now folks like Kevin and Lon draw that line a little higher up, and that's cool because I know they both have great rigs that do indeed sound better than mine, and I'd love to hear both. And would do so with a huge grin on my face. Everyone has to decide for themselves when to say when. I said when a while ago and am now downgrading my system. When a high-end system starts having problems, you'd better hide; the cost is astronomical and it's not worth it, at least not in my opinion.
  17. I agree, this project has come to nothing. Pity, it looked promising.
  18. Unless Customs get involved, they usually take their time...
  19. Forgot to mention that the site I linked to in post #28 only covers the Rolling Stones' Decca/London years.
  20. I think you mean the U.S. version of Out of Our Heads I'm realizing that now. Hans, the link you posted above is awesome. THANK YOU. You're welcome. Good luck and have fun!

  22. If you want to know everything about the various CDs and their contents, this is the site: http://www.lukpac.org/stereostones/stones-cd-faq.txt
  23. You're right, I don't want them There's talk that old perm-head might be replacing Gergiev at the LSO. Not sure that's something I could easily get used to... I don't care for either of them. Sold all my Gergievs and the only perm-head I still have is his Mahler 10 (the Deryck Cooke version) with the Berlin Philharmonic.
  24. I have many of the Sviatoslav Richter "Authorised Recordings" sets that Philips put out years ago. Assuming the new Decca box contains this stuff, it's highly recommended - but I know that some find his playing hard to stomach; I'm not one of them The Clifford Curzon box is wonderful, even though it contains a few questionable orchestral performances. As I've said ad nauseam here he's one of my all-time favourite pianists. You're right, I don't want them
  25. Probably the latter. I have the earlier version; that one was mastered by Gene Paul.
