  1. See my post #13. Thanks Hans. I take it "extras" is a new button on IE 11 which gives you that option of "compatibility view" . Do you just go to settings; extras; type in the organissimo.org/forum and hit compatibility view? Did it work for you? Thanks again. Go to "extras" (or, in Dutch on my computer, "extra"), then go to "compatibility view settings": the name of the site you're on should already be in the box on that page or, if not, type the address (in this case: www.organissimo.org) in the box and hit "add", then "close".
  2. In my experience DMG's internet service is extremely user-unfriendly. I'll never use them again.
  3. Not for me either - apart from the fact that I'm not a Yo-Yo Ma fan, on the contrary
  4. He did mention streaming and I think "you name it" is meant to include the European PD labels, although those labels didn't cover much of the kind of more advanced music Jazz Loft was carrying
  5. Same here. And this is sad news indeed.
  6. http://jazztimes.com/sections/news/articles/112427-drummer-and-bandleader-chico-hamilton-dies-at-92 Yep, those dates were great.
  7. Sorry to hear this. Love his Mosaic.
  8. So don't go worrying about your hunches of Black Anti semitism being defended here. Maybe explore why you can't see the execrable reverse racism arguments of the aforementioned writers/musicians -whose whole musical identities were/are based on Black Music history- for what it truly is. Gimme a break, willya? I'm not willing to be accused of racism by you. If you find it in my posts, in my language, fine, go point it out - if not, shut the fuck up now and take your crusade elsewhere. I'm sure your line of reasoning isn't plain wrong, I'm sure what you're pointing out is actually taking place - but I'm not the one to attack here. Totally agree with Flurin. [edit] I also think that this has become a political discussion, which doesn't belong on this board since Jim A. pulled the dedicated forum.
  9. Erwin, All the best with your move and don't strain your back too much Won't be able to help [sigh of relief]
  10. Sorry to hear this. My condolences. I wish you the very best for the future.
  11. Forgot to mention Clifford Curzon, although he recorded only a couple of sonatas. His recordings of the Impromptus and Moments musicaux are magical. One of the great but underrated pianists of the 20th Century in my view.
  12. Richter is indeed excellent. Imogen Cooper recorded the later sonatas twice. Her first cycle is very good, haven't heard the second one. Radu Lupu is good too in my opinion, and so is Alfred Brendel, who recorded the later sonatas at least twice; his playing is an acquired taste, though, many people hate his interpretations.
  13. Why would any intonation problems be much less on the earlier set?? I'm assuming the intonation problems are related to advancing age. They're not necessarily age-related, I've heard young string players with intonation problems. You posted the statement in your earlier post as a fact, but it's just an assumption.
  14. Why would any intonation problems be much less on the earlier set??
  15. It's a great set, one of the reference recordings of the Beethoven string quartets. It's been OOP for ages; this one could be either a reissue or one of those CD-R reprints. I'd check with the seller before buying.

    Spirit

I got the first two albums (Spirit in 1968 and The Family That Plays Together in 1969) when they came out and still like them. Never cared for their later stuff.
  17. I've never been that impressed with Ansermet's interpretations and his orchestra, l'Orchestre de la Suisse Romande.
  18. In my experience you can go back; I uninstalled a later IE version a few times, only to find that an earlier version had reappeared on my PC.
  19. Thanks to my bank (!) I found the solution: they advised me to add the site's address to "extra" -> "compatibility view settings".
  20. Seconded. Let's hope it won't be as bad as what happened to the Philippines.
  21. Posting pictures and quoting posts with IE11/Windows 7 is still not possible. When I try to post a picture, the browser freezes immediately. I'm using Firefox 25.0.1 as an alternative, but not being able to use IE11 is a nuisance.
  22. Not anymore, the recording is now owned by Universal.
  23. The versions I have are The Seasons (Die Jahreszeiten) by John Eliot Gardiner, the English Baroque Soloists, various singers and the Monteverdi Choir (Archiv 2CD-set) and The Creation (Schöpfungsmesse) by Richard Hickox, Collegium 90 and various singers (Chandos). They're both on my sale list, as religious works are not really my cup of tea. [edit] Gardiner recorded Die Jahreszeiten twice, both for Archiv. His later recording is often preferred.
  24. I think it was.
