AFAIK Blue Note/Capitol has the rights now. Takes Charge has been released on CD in 2002 edit: this only applies to Takes Charge, I gues (?) Capitol/EMI have the rights to the Riverside albums that Cannonball owned. They reissued most, if not all albums. I could swear I was taught that " its' " was valid as a possessive pronoun when I was in school. My English teacher nearly got a heart attack every time someone used it's instead of its as a possessive pronoun. It's the apostrophe after the s that I thought used to be OK. I'm off to check my Oxford Concise again. Oops, sorry, thought it was a typo...

Somethin' Else is the best Cannonball album, but I prefer the atmosphere and ambience on The Quintet in San Francisco.

I just got an e-mail from Hiroshi on Tuesday stating that he couldn't find this one for me. Those Japanese Victor mini-LP CDs are OOP and very hard to find. Not as far as I know. The AP gold disc was remastered by Kevin Gray; he did an excellent job.

My favorite version is the AP gold CD from the Riverside Tenor Sessions set, but that box is hideously expensive. My second choice would be the now OOP Japanese 20-bit Digital K2 remastered reissue, though I'm not sure I like the highs of that one. Unlike the AP, the Japanese version has the same bonus tracks as the OJC.

That's right, but if I remember correctly there were posts about the deterioration of the tapes on the Steve Hoffman forum. I had the Japanese Digital K2 remastered version, and that one didn't sound great.

I'd be surprised if Bags Meets Wes turned out to be a sonic upgrade; the tapes seem to be in a terrible state.
