    Funny Rat

I'm listening to William Parker's O'Neal's Porch (AUM Fidelity) now, and I tend to agree with some of the posters here regarding Parker's playing, I find it increasingly annoying...
  3. Like the title says, the Bear Family set Memphis Days - The Definitive Edition, Vols.1-2 has Wolf's Memphis recordings, while The Chess Box also covers his Chicago years. You'll need both in my opinion, they're essential.

    Funny Rat

I saw Noah Howard in concert during one of the now defunct "Groningen Jazz Marathon" festivals in the 1970s. I remember being rather underwhelmed by his playing, but not much else.

    Buddy Who ???

Buddy Childers also made recordings for Liberty in LA, with Herbie Steward (tenor saxophone), Bob Harrington (piano), Harry Babasin (bass) and Milt Holland (drums) on November 29 and December 6, 1955 (issued on the album Sam Songs, Liberty LJH-6009), and with Arnold Ross (piano), Harry Babasin (bass) and Boone Stines (drums) on March 21, 1956 (issued on the album Buddy Childers Quartet, Liberty LJH-6013).
  6. ...And they keep saying the economy of the Western world isn't doing too well... I don't get it...
  7. Just in case you were interested.....I use their steel shaft 'burner' driver and a graphite shaft 3-wood.
  8. I'm getting that message all the time... Probably means I'm buying too many CDs
  9. I don't think I'm going to get the 24-bit remastered facsimile reissues of my TOCJs.
  10. Oh, the Japanese Bethlehem's the one? I have a burn of that and wasn't sure that it was the same as the title on the Tanno list. The Hal McKusick Quartet on Fresh Sound 41 is the same as Bethlehem BCP-16. It was McKusick's only Bethlehem date. Recorded in NYC on February 17, 1955 Personnel: Hal McKusick - clarinet, alto saxophone Barry Galbraith - guitar Milt Hinton - bass Osie Johnson - drums Tracks: By-Ian Blue-Who What's New Interwoven Give 'Em Hal Minor Matters Taylor Made You Don't Know What Love Is They Can't Take That Away from Me Lullaby for Leslie

  19. Wasn't there a discography that also listed Sonny Red under his actual name?
  20. Why don't you ask Jim (b3-er) to move it to "Reissues"?
  21. It's available from Amazon UK.
  22. I'm not sure the buyers would appreciate your playing their vinyl before sending it on... LMAO I'm pretty sure they would be incredibly grateful of not being out $200 and would tell me to go ahead and play them, clean them ... Maybe, but I'd ask them first - after all, it's their vinyl...

    Destination Out

Glad I have the TOCJ, I prefer it to the Select. Never heard the Connoisseur.
