Blank black Mosaic type Boxes available?
J.A.W. replied to jazzkrow's topic in Offering and Looking For...
I don't think I can help you. I do have a few black boxes, but no plastic trays for 4 single CDs; the ones I have are for 2 single CDs each. Apart from that, shipping would indeed be prohibitive: 18 euros (lowest rate, total weight should not exceed 2 kilograms) or about $25. -
Many of the Ace remasters I bought over the last few years were mastered quite loud, some were too loud to my ears. They also had boosted highs, making them sound a tad harsh. They were fatiguing. How do these CDs fare?

I have a few generic black Mosaic boxes and I might have a few plastic trays to hold the CDs, but I'm not sure about the trays and I have no idea for how many CDs. Shipping cost would probably be prohibitive, though. -
CD Japan: http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/ Their prices are OK and their service is excellent.

As far as I know the first Eastern Rebellion album was the one with George Coleman, Cedar Walton, Sam Jones and Billy Higgins; the tracks on the album were "Bolivia", "Naima", "5/4 Thing", "Bittersweet" and "Mode for Joe". Bob Berg came later.

Very sad news. I saw him several times in concert, with Clifford Jordan, Sam Jones and Billy Higgins. They're all gone now.

When Bernard Haitink was chief conductor of the Concertgebouw Orchestra (1957-1988) he was the Bruckner champion in the Netherlands. I attended several Concertgebouw concerts in the 1980s, with him conducting Bruckner. Wonderful experiences in a great concert hall. My favourite Bruckner symphonies are Nos.7-9, followed by 4-6.

Most of the Bethlehem CDs I have were released by Toshiba (TOCJ) in the late 1990s/early 2000s. The sound is pretty harsh, at least to my ears. Maybe this new series has better sound, or perhaps I should try the earlier Rhino reissues.

Sorry to hear this. Another Outlaw gone.

I don't know who Hans is, but I agree with this sentiment whole-heartedly. See my signature. Thanks Paul. -

OK, but why isn't criticism of the amount and variety of posts not allowed in your opinion? As I see it that would be a restriction of one's freedom of expression/speech/whatever you want to call it. Such criticism doesn't mean that one wants to see the poster's right to post as much as they want restricted as has been suggested earlier, it's merely a wish for fewer posts like the ones discussed. The poster is free to ignore that wish, of course. -

I said nothing of the kind, I said I wished he would stop posting those threads (linking stuff) and that a little less would be very welcome as far as I'm concerned. I said what I wished for, I never said I wanted to limit a member's amount of posts - there's a difference, but maybe it's too subtle... Of course, every member is free to post as many threads as they want, just as I am free to criticize those posts and the sheer volume of (in this case) posts linking articles. My choice of words may have annoyed some people, but I stand by them; again, they were never meant as a personal attack. Let me add one more thing: I wasn't "backpedalling" at all, I was just trying to make clear what was meant. If I had indeed been backpedalling, I would have explicitly made that clear. Some people here are masters at distorting and twisting someone else's posts, giving them a different meaning than intended and turning them into personal attacks they can indignantly point at. Time for me to leave this board, at least for now. This nonsense isn't worth my time. -
Actress Karen Black has died. She was 74. She was a favourite of mine. http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-207_162-57597691/karen-black-five-easy-pieces-star-dead-at-74/

Here is a post everyone took to meant one of two people....and took to be personally attacking that person. Then there is this. How about this. Well, one more time - I don't see any personal attacks, just criticism of Aloc's overwhelming number of threads and the content of many. Again, you only read my posts the way you want to read them, not what they actually say. And if you're wondering whom sonnymax meant in his post, just ask him. I won't respond to your posts anymore, they're not worth my time. -

Yet, most everyone that read your comments seems to think it was an attack of him personally, or whomever SD thought they were about (I am betting like me when I initially read your posts....you meant me)....I still think it's how everyone took your posts meant....but you're reading the signs that you put your foot in your mouth and are backpedaling. The horror that he posts things you deem unsuitable for this place. I think you among many others post a bunch of things that don't belong here. I know many including you think there are things I post that don't belong on this board. Since he's not breaking any of the many rules (some of which I made clear (I beat a dead horse about it) are absurd) for this B.B....In the end it really is up to Jim A to decide. This is typical. I won't even bother to reply, other than that it wasn't me who started criticism of Aloc's posts (I was merely responding to an earlier post) and that several people agreed with my remarks, which, again, were not aimed at him personally. I get the impression that you only seem to be able to read posts the way you want to read them, not how they're actually written/meant. Anyway, you are now definitely on my ignore list. Goodbye. -

Just to make one thing clear: I don't think anyone here "hates" Aloc (I certainly don't), the objections were aimed at the content and overwhelming number of his posts. As far as I can see no one attacked him personally. -

The last time he was here I guess he kind of went off on the owner of Jazz Corner in the thread about the forums closing over there. They had had a huge falling out years ago and I guess Chris still hasn't been able to let it go. Haven't seen him around since then, so he probably said "fuck it" at that point. Does anyone know if he is on Facebook? He has his own blog, "Stomp Off": http://stomp-off.blogspot.nl/ -
They are legit and relatively cheap. I've purchased quite a few CDs from them. Their customer service is only so-so in my experience, but I've hardly had problems with my orders.

Whatever. Why not lock this thread instead of posting this er... stuff (just avoided another word). [edit] Never mind, I'm out of here. -

OK, but what are they doing on a jazz board? I'm here for the music, not for "Americana" or other mainly non-musical stuff; there are other boards for that. I know, this has been discussed many times before and Jim sees it differently, but I think it's still worth discussing. Just my 2 cents
