I don't know who Hans is, but I agree with this sentiment whole-heartedly. See my signature. Thanks Paul. -

OK, but why isn't criticism of the amount and variety of posts not allowed in your opinion? As I see it that would be a restriction of one's freedom of expression/speech/whatever you want to call it. Such criticism doesn't mean that one wants to see the poster's right to post as much as they want restricted as has been suggested earlier, it's merely a wish for fewer posts like the ones discussed. The poster is free to ignore that wish, of course. -

I said nothing of the kind, I said I wished he would stop posting those threads (linking stuff) and that a little less would be very welcome as far as I'm concerned. I said what I wished for, I never said I wanted to limit a member's amount of posts - there's a difference, but maybe it's too subtle... Of course, every member is free to post as many threads as they want, just as I am free to criticize those posts and the sheer volume of (in this case) posts linking articles. My choice of words may have annoyed some people, but I stand by them; again, they were never meant as a personal attack. Let me add one more thing: I wasn't "backpedalling" at all, I was just trying to make clear what was meant. If I had indeed been backpedalling, I would have explicitly made that clear. Some people here are masters at distorting and twisting someone else's posts, giving them a different meaning than intended and turning them into personal attacks they can indignantly point at. Time for me to leave this board, at least for now. This nonsense isn't worth my time. -
Actress Karen Black has died. She was 74. She was a favourite of mine. http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-207_162-57597691/karen-black-five-easy-pieces-star-dead-at-74/

Here is a post everyone took to meant one of two people....and took to be personally attacking that person. Then there is this. How about this. Well, one more time - I don't see any personal attacks, just criticism of Aloc's overwhelming number of threads and the content of many. Again, you only read my posts the way you want to read them, not what they actually say. And if you're wondering whom sonnymax meant in his post, just ask him. I won't respond to your posts anymore, they're not worth my time. -

Yet, most everyone that read your comments seems to think it was an attack of him personally, or whomever SD thought they were about (I am betting like me when I initially read your posts....you meant me)....I still think it's how everyone took your posts meant....but you're reading the signs that you put your foot in your mouth and are backpedaling. The horror that he posts things you deem unsuitable for this place. I think you among many others post a bunch of things that don't belong here. I know many including you think there are things I post that don't belong on this board. Since he's not breaking any of the many rules (some of which I made clear (I beat a dead horse about it) are absurd) for this B.B....In the end it really is up to Jim A to decide. This is typical. I won't even bother to reply, other than that it wasn't me who started criticism of Aloc's posts (I was merely responding to an earlier post) and that several people agreed with my remarks, which, again, were not aimed at him personally. I get the impression that you only seem to be able to read posts the way you want to read them, not how they're actually written/meant. Anyway, you are now definitely on my ignore list. Goodbye. -

Just to make one thing clear: I don't think anyone here "hates" Aloc (I certainly don't), the objections were aimed at the content and overwhelming number of his posts. As far as I can see no one attacked him personally. -

The last time he was here I guess he kind of went off on the owner of Jazz Corner in the thread about the forums closing over there. They had had a huge falling out years ago and I guess Chris still hasn't been able to let it go. Haven't seen him around since then, so he probably said "fuck it" at that point. Does anyone know if he is on Facebook? He has his own blog, "Stomp Off": http://stomp-off.blogspot.nl/ -
They are legit and relatively cheap. I've purchased quite a few CDs from them. Their customer service is only so-so in my experience, but I've hardly had problems with my orders.

Whatever. Why not lock this thread instead of posting this er... stuff (just avoided another word). [edit] Never mind, I'm out of here. -

OK, but what are they doing on a jazz board? I'm here for the music, not for "Americana" or other mainly non-musical stuff; there are other boards for that. I know, this has been discussed many times before and Jim sees it differently, but I think it's still worth discussing. Just my 2 cents -

That would be easy if he didn't swamp the board almost daily with his threads; there are days when they totally dominate the "Recent Topics" column at the right, they can't be avoided. It's the same when you hit the "view new content" button. A little less would be very welcome as far as I'm concerned. -

Also, I think the inordinate number of threads on this board about album covers and about "hey, here's some pointless article I found on the Internet. I think I'll start a thread!" diminish the quality of real discussion about music, making this a less interesting and rewarding place to be. As they say in the U.K., "hear hear". Couldn't agree more, with both Allen and sonnymax. As for those numerous new posts by one member linking pointless articles each day, I wish he wouldn't use this board as his personal blog and stop posting those threads. As I see it they're unnecessarily taking up a lot of space and so do those silly album cover threads. -
Haven't heard this particular CD, but other Universal Japan remasters I've heard that came out in the last 10-15 years also suffer from boosted highs and loudness.

Highly recommended: Blues Images calendars and CDs

John Tefteller told me there will be a 2014 calendar and it's due out in early September. It'll be available on their website: www.bluesimages.com -
How are people supposed to pay you? Western Union? He stated check/cheque or money order. Could be problematic for people in Europe. I can only speak for my own country, but we don't have cheques or money orders anymore, and Western Union payments aren't guaranteed like credit card or PayPal payments. I'm guessing Paul is selling to U.S. residents only. These days U.S. overseas shipping rates are prohibitive anyway.

PD, so no original sources were used.

Oh, I do hope it doesn't just include Ella's work with the band. Or does it include the material after Chick died and Ella took over for a while? MG Apparently you haven't read the descripton on the Mosaic site the first post linked to. Here it is again: http://www.mosaicrecords.com/genres.asp?dept=50 (scroll down)

Mosaic's Scott Wenzel just told me the Webb/Fitzgerald set is due out in October 2013.

Mosaic's Scott Wenzel just told me the earlier Tolliver Select (MS-020) is indeed OOP; the OOP list on their site will be edited. -
I'm glad to see that erwbol and I are not the only ones who are critical of the remastered sound.

Yep, the quartet set MS-020 is the one being discussed and that one's OOP. -

There's just the small matter of the set being OOP...
