  1. Claude doesn't visit this board much anymore, if at all. If you want to contact him you'd better send him a PM over at the Hoffman board, where he is a regular poster under the same handle.
  2. Mosaic used digital for some of their early LP sets, but they stopped doing that. It's been all analogue for any LP sets they've released since then.
  3. These releases on 180 gram vinyl are aimed at the audiophile market. Members of the Hoffman forum have been buying audiophile jazz LPs (which they call "vinyls") for years now, for premium prices. Many are now OOP and sought after. Especially companies like Acoustic Sounds and Mobile Fidelity have been active in this field, issuing remastered Blue Note, Riverside, Prestige, impulse! and Miles Davis albums on "top quality vinyl" - and some also on hybrid SACDs.
  4. I could be mistaken, but I don't think there's any change.
  5. Like it or not, there's a niche audiophile market for stuff like that.
  6. Good luck with the transition. Hope it'll be a smooth one this time...
  7. All 2012 Warner/Atlantic Japan CD releases with prefix WPCR 2013 Warner/Atlantic Japan CD releases with prefix WPCR
  8. Well, not quite - when I click on "view new content" I get nothing, although there are plenty of new posts judging by the first page. Seems to work now.

    Ted Curson RIP

    Very sorry to hear this.
  11. sic transit gloria mundi...
  12. Many years ago (I think it was the early 1970s) I had B&W DM2A speakers and loved them. Later I got B&W DM70 hybrid electrostatics; they had great electrostatic units that unfortunately were very fragile, but I didn't care for the huge dynamic bass units. I'm not familiar with the speakers you mentioned, sorry. By the way, it's Bowers & Wilkins.
  13. Correct. Mustang has those two extra tracks with Jimmy Heath, Blackjack has one bonus track. I ordered them from someone in the U.K. for a very nice price.
  14. I am looking for 2 Donald Byrd non-RVG CDs in excellent or better condition: • Mustang - the 1997 Blue Note release • Blackjack - the 1998 Blue Note release My only payment option is PayPal. Please PM me if you're selling one or both or know where I can get them. I'm not prepared to pay a fortune for these discs.
  15. And another thread turns into nonsense. Typical.
  16. This Japanese seller is known for his high prices. His stuff is generally in excellent condition, though. As far as I know these Fontana albums were never released on CD in the United States or Europe.
  17. Hans? I have no idea, I didn't ask Scott. I guess you'll have to wait for the answer until the set is up for pre-order on Mosaic's "Upcoming Releases" page, or maybe you could ask Scott yourself See this post.
  18. Maybe they can provide you with a photocopy.
  19. Time to revive this old thread Any recent Scriabin piano sonatas recommendations?
  20. Mosaic sets with 7 CDs are the most cost-effective ones, but there's no "hard" 7CD limit. For instance, the recent Duke Ellington big-band and Coleman Hawkins sets have 11 and 8 CDs respectively. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Again, as Scott told me only Sony-owned material will be included in the Earl Hines set, so it'll have no Universal-owned stuff.
  21. Brunswick and Decca sides included ? . I'm guessing yes and no respectively. Only Sony-owned material. No stuff that is owned by Universal.
  22. Decided to try Heifetz again, even though previous efforts years ago didn't work. Ordered three of his "Living Stereo" hybrid SACDs while they're still available: Brahms/Tchaikovsky, Prokofiev/Sibelius/Glazunov and Beethoven/Mendelssohn-Bartholdy.

It seems it's got something to do with the cost of licensing; the optimum seems to be a 7CD-set, I was told sets with fewer CDs cost more per CD and so do sets with more than 7 CDs. Also, licensing stuff from more than one rights owner for one set seems to be very costly.
