  1. Plenty to choose from here if something should ever happen to your existing frames. I've never had an issue. The company was started by a few friends at Wharton as an alternate to the overpriced and limited selection of frames at the outlets you mention. Great service. http://www.warbyparker.com/eyeglasses/men
  2. Thanks Moose. I'll have some Black Butte this week in your honor.
  3. For everything you get, no it isn't too out of line. The issue is that the majority don't want a limited edition exhaustive document of the event. Just the Blu-Ray.
  4. All you drink are Porters? What is your go-to?
  5. Agreed on the prices, which is the main reason that I only occasionally read this thread. They certainly aren't picking up any new fans with this strategy.
  6. Who of you would be willing to send me a bottle of Pliny The Elder? This is an impossibly elusive beer in the Southeast.
  7. Hard to believe a brass band has made the Billboard charts, much less cracked the top twenty. http://www.shorefire.com/index.php?a=pressrelease&o=6698
  8. I have the Fischer and C/B on order. I have really enjoyed both the Dixon and the Hemphill. I, like most folks I know that are interested in this music, don't subscribe to any jazz publications anymore. I wouldn't have known about JLH's efforts were it not for this board. I have gifted the Dixon and Hemphill to a couple of friends. How do you reach your audience?
  9. I was in a conversation yesterday with a friend who had mixed up Connie Kay and Carol Kaye. It took me a few minutes, because I'd read that Kaye had done some jazz records over her lifetime. The misinformation that flies around a record store...
  10. John D'Earth http://www.c-ville.com/john-dearth-trumpet-player/
  11. Piano trios when there is nothing better around?
  12. I had Cook Out today. Always very good. Never great.
  13. One of the owners of the new Five Guys in Covent Garden is the brother in law of a good friend of mine!
  14. You can get a decent sounding vinyl version for reasonable $. The copy I bought is a bad pressing, as is often the case at this price. One tune has a skip about two minutes in. Defective. Such a bummer!
  15. MOG I have a few Keith Jarrett CDs and LPs, but nothing from this group. I will definitely be buying a few of these albums. Maybe all of them. This is really wonderful music.
  16. I've been streaming a lot of this trio's albums because of this thread. Really beautiful stuff. I think my brother received the standards box as a gift when he graduated from high school. I'm going to have to borrow it. He's always on the road in Europe these days anyway! Thanks for this thread CJ et al.
  17. Congratulations to the Nessa family!
  18. Here's a look at the inside. You can imagine why they are so temperamental. I'd imagine the Mellotron's most well-known is the intro to Strawberry Fields. Has anybody here seen this? http://www.bazillionpoints.com/shop/mellodrama-the-mellotron-movie-dvd-by-dianna-dilworth/
  19. We've had this experience here with the word "nonplussed" being misused.
  20. I think it means that he is a very strong icon for many of what Blue Note Records was during a very productive time. I don't think anyone here thinks that Hank Mobley alone, or as part of a small list of musicians, DEFINES the Blue Note legacy, just that he is as definitive a Blue Note recording artist as there ever was.
  21. Type Hank Mobley site:organissimo.org into google search for days of reading...
  22. Come again? Teasing, you really ought to start more threads around here. You are obviously tapped into a bunch of shit that most of us don't even know exist. I've gotten great recommendations from you over the years!
  23. What a life! I would love to see the documentary. How did you know him?
  24. It was enough to type this response, full well knowing that I had nothing worthwhile to add.
