  1. I was wondering about Rod just last week. Happy Birthday! Come back now ya hear?
  2. I've got the old DVD. I'll buy this set eventually. Glad everyone is enjoying it!
  3. Well these days it's practically free to get in.
  4. Beer is a sports drink. Ask the ultrarunners.
  5. Pink hatter! Ha! Dan, spoken like a true fan.
  6. Dozin'? Yeah? Hm. I do remember the "Bud Muddy Love Jam" or some such to be decent, along with some future-Hart stylings during space, but that set doesn't fare well in my memory. I'll pull it out this week.
  7. 1am here. I really want to see this.
  8. I really like this one. Good luck Hans!
  9. The only reason I own a BluRay player is because it streams Netflix. I wonder to which advantage this trojan horse scheme will prove.
  10. Nice to see George Scala's name mentioned. He lived in Charlotte when we were living there. Really nice guy. He had me over to listen to music. Man, time flies. This must have been 12 years ago.
  11. In my experience with mice, where there's one, there are a dozen.
  12. Did Wynton sign it?
  13. I liked the. Fine from what I can remember, but salty.
  14. John Zorn Spy vs. Spy Scott Clark 4Tet s/t
  15. Jason Scott (tenor), Bob Miller (trumpet), JC Kuhl (tenor), Pinson Chanselle (drums), Frank Rosaly (drums), Josh Berman (trumpet), Reggie Pace (trombone), Pandelis Karayoris (Rhodes), Matt Bauder (tenor- tone and stylistically), Nate Wooley (trumpet), Bryan Hooten (trombone), Scott Burton (guitar), Brian Jones (drums), Keefe Jackson (tenor), in no order off the top of my head. Does Pandelis fit age requirement? If so, plenty more names spring up!
  16. Glad to hear it. It's easy to do (taking shit too seriously).
  17. Fasstrack, these boards are cyclical. This particular board was started in 03? We did all of the appreciation threads bak then and even before that at bnbb. Every once in a while one will make it's way back up to the top of the list, but the posters here have moved through all of that and are communicating on a much more nuanced and personal level at this point. This exact thread ha been done before. Worry not. In three weeks, five months, whatever, jazz will still be here and we'll still be talking about it. Hey. At least someone is talking about it! From my pov, jazz is alive and well. I'm 34. Most of my friends, musicians and audience alike, are even younger. Wynton/Clapton, BELIEVE ME, isn't going to change anything, for better or for worse. Completely irrelevant to everyone I know, except here so far. Not a peep elsewhere. Same goes for Most of the major topics around here.
  18. This is organissimo.
  19. The wonderful Mitch Hedberg. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yEWghREkI6o&sns=em
  20. So... do or don't? I think that's what we're all trying to determine.
  21. thirty bucks http://albany.craigslist.org/ele/2598683105.html
  22. Dan, if you hear cracking, you might want to try a static brush, or cleaning your stylus with a small slice of magic eraser before playing the record.
