  1. I've had a copy of John Wickes "Innovations In British Jazz, Volume 1: 1960-1980" since 2000 (came with a Mike Osborne CD) - it probably covers music of the same period/material - much more info (325 pages) & lighter on the pics - definitely not a coffee table book - essential reference text for me May give this newbie a miss due to the crappy australian exchange rate & astronomical shipping costs to here
  2. wonderful interview - thoroughly absorbing thanks rostasi
  3. same here to my surprise plus my CC charge is pending (up on my account)
  4. Just listened to that track & you're correct - it does sound like booing & the clapping is sparse when compared to the other live titles. Why?? was Dolphy's soloing too avant for the crowd
  5. same here, back in 1993 Yes, there was an extra insert page for the CD version plus the extra two titles not on vinyl
  6. I think you may be referring to the two extra tracks added to the Mosaic CD version ie alts of Body & Soul Plus Wrap Your Troubles In Dreams (The original Mosaic Candid LP box omitted these). The Mosaic CD version appears to have all of the tracks on the individual Candid CD releases AFAIK - omits some Newport Rebels & Candid Dolphy tracks that don't include Mingus. The more recent Candid/Solid Japanese CD included the 45 edited versions of Folk Forms #1 & Original Faubus Fables.
  7. IIRC I think it was mentioned that this "first" non subscription release would be reissued after the whole series was completed I havn't heard anything from them but admittedly I told them to hold off (was given option via email) until a bundle was available (at least 6)
  8. 5 for me plus this set has some previously unreleased material
  9. The DIW releases of Zorn's Masada are being reissued in a Tzadik box this month (Shipping October 30th from Tzadik site) - looks like a 10 CD set https://tzadik.limitedrun.com/products/748363-masada-30th-anniversary-edition-the-complete-studio-master-takes Jazz Messengers is already selling them according to their website https://www.jazzmessengers.com/en/98478/john-zorn/masada-30th-anniversary-edition-10-cd-s?mc_cid=dde9509a26&mc_eid=5c16ab7b46
  10. The artwork/design & the storyline - working around events (real & previously documented) in the musicians life BTW, I'm not a comic afficonado
  11. definitely on my hit list - have previously got the NYA4 box plus the two Cecil Taylor doubles from Triple Point. Still considering the Lowe double. These items would normally be well out of my price range but they made themselves accessible when I unexpectedly came into some $$
  12. yep, I'm in the same boat - don't think it'll be that much cheaper via Jazz Messengers
  13. https://us.macmillan.com/books/9781626724341/monk https://www.amazon.com/Monk-Thelonious-Pannonica-Friendship-Revolution/dp/1626724342/ref=sr_1_1?crid=63MOUVP9QIE7&keywords=thelonious+monk+graphic+novel&qid=1699513293&sprefix=thelonious+monk+graphic+nove%2Caps%2C468&sr=8-1 this is one of my fav graphic jazz novels There's an Albery Ayler one on the way too
  14. RIP Michel
  15. Nice detective work there - so It's likely that Signature 15005 & 15006 were not released & as you postulate, the music (4 tracks) from this session may be lost
  16. I'd say you're on the right track here - it appears that all 4 titles from that Signature session havn't been released - check the link below https://www.45worlds.com/78rpm/record/nc991730us Your mention of that Cole tune made me laugh - I remember first hearing it on the Cole Mosaic box in the mid 90s - I used to sing along with it to my children who got a buzz out if it & used to join in too
  17. I count 51 Musicraft tracks (including 3 alts) via Lord - what about a double CD then? I'm surprised the Andorrans havn't attempted this unfortunately the four tracks from The Signature session (two unissued) are not on this Classics CD I'm wondering if Signature 15005 related to the two unreleased tracks from tyhe session Buck Clayton (tp) Trummy Young (tb) Milt Yaner (cl,as) Don Byas (ts) Ernie Caceres (bar) Billy Rowland (p) Hy White (g) Al Lucas (b) Jimmy Crawford (d) New York, December 4, 1944 SRC154 Let me call you sweetheart Signature 15006 SRC155 Lame brain (unissued) SRC156 Please, please, please Signature 15006 SRC157 Flogalapa (unissued) Note: For a session of January 4, 1945 on Continental C6005 as by James "Trummie" Young's All Stars, see under Clyde Hart.
  18. Most of this material is sourceable & has had CD release, the trickiest being the Trummy Young Signature session - apparently only ever released as a Signature 78 (according to Lord). I did a crosscheck yesterday & have all of this material bar the Trummy session & the Teddy Wilson one (available on a Classics CD). BTW, Wilson did a significant number of recordings for Musicraft throughout '45 to '47 - could easily be a boxed set.
  19. OMG!!! Just opened my emails & saw Mosaic's latest - all of my Christmases have come at once - I have been waiting for this for quite a few years now. So So good One down (Byas) & one to go (Wardell Gray)
  20. and it's even had a CD reissue on Esoteric
  21. He's also very contactable/approachable - I've done so a couple of times I've been picking up all of the Modern Harmonic & Cosmic Myth CDs (& occasional LP) soon after release
  22. an MFP special - has become a kitsch label (at least here in Australia) - I've had a copy of this for years
  23. Scored this in the Haden complete Montreal 6CD box a few years back https://www.discogs.com/release/2412236-Charlie-Haden-The-Montreal-Tapes
  24. First thing that came to mind on seeing the lowermost image was the Pere Ubu track "Young Miles In The Basement"
